RY4 Query

Hey all,

I have only ever bought my RY4 from VapeEscape, i was wondering is RY4 the same taste from all vendors or do they taste slightly different with each supplier?

If they do who do you think supplies the best RY4, thought i would ask as i am gonna be placing a order for some more RY4 and some Black Jack (never tried Black Jack yet).

If there is not much difference between them all i will stick to VapeEscape as i love their service

Have you tried Grizwald's GY4 (also from Vapeescape)? I like it Mind you, I haven't tried "regular" RY4...

If the RY is from Hangsen, then It IS one of the better RYs out there. IMWO. (in my wife's opinion)
If you have a chance, try the Halo Tribeca, a bit deeper in flavor, but not too sweet.
We both find that the flavour is best from a cartomizer. Kanger Hori SR at the moment on 3.2-3.7V.

I mix my own and call it RY4+, I use Cloud9 RY4 flavouring and Hangsen RY4 Flavouring in equal measures and add a little French Vanilla and Maple Syrup flavourings. Mix is as 50/50 at 26mg/ml and its my all dayer.

But in answer, yes RY4 varies by vendor unless they state Dekang or Hangsen in which case in theory they should be the same. I say in theory because it depends how it was mixed mainly what ratios of PG and VG are used s this alters the flavour slightly.

I've tried only 3 (or 4?) and not one of them is even close to another.

I like GY4 but not steeped. I like the "old" school Dekang (can you still get it?)

Woven throughout this long thread are discussions---including speculation, opinion, gossip, and even some very interesting revelations---concerning both the origins of RY4 itself in 2007 and the history of what happened when and after the fabled Dekang RY4 was "lost" (stolen) in 2009.

The shortest synopsis I can offer is that apparently Ludo, one of the owners of Janty, and a Chinese flavor chemist (presumably working for Dekang) "invented" RY4 in an impromptu session in the lab of a Chinese juice manufacturing facility one day in 2007. They called their creation Ruyan #4 (ruyan being Chinese slang for "cigarette-like" and #4 since it was the fourth flavoring recipe formula revision they tried in the session that day), then shortened that name to the acronym "RY4." So, at least according to the story we got from Ludo, Janty Classic RY4 is the original RY4---and remains so today---with Elixir RY4 being nearly identical.

As for the "lost" Dekang, our story here matches yours with minor differences. For instance, we didn't know that Hangsen was the company for which that flavor chemist (who may or may not have been the co-creator of RY4) quit Dekang. I read that he left to form a new start-up juice company. But maybe that was Hangsen. We also discovered documents online confirming that this chemist was subsequently arrested for industrial theft of intellectual property, tried and convicted, and imprisoned in China. (The Chinese are notoriously harsh on punishing law-breakers.) He may still be in prison to this day, but that's unconfirmed. And, of course, the whereabouts of the "secret RY4 formula" remain unknown.

I have some 2011 Hangsen RY4 from Liberty-Flights that I reviewed on this thread (post #755). I wasn't terribly impressed at first, but lately I find it quite pleasing---milder and more laid-back than many classic RY4 formulations, but very good. Whether it's a replica of the lost Dekang I can't say, since I didn't start vaping until autumn 2010 and never had any of that now-mythic Dekang RY4.

I would hazard a guess, though, that the Hangsen RY4 I've got is probably not the same as the lost Dekang. That's just my uninformed opinion, but my particular bottle of Hangsen RY4 is a very easy-going, pleasant vape. By contrast, I conclude from reading posts by veteran vapers that the 2009 Dekang must have been spectacular. Hard to imagine that the Hangsen I'm vaping right now would fit that bill or be the source of such fierce loyalty even years later. I mean, it's pretty good, but the Hangsen RY4 (and Hangsen RY1, 2, and 3, as well) are hardly the nectar of the gods.

To this date i have only ever tried:

HS Delight - One vape of it and hated it (Gave to OH)
HS Menthol - One vape of it and hated it (Gave to OH)
VapeEscape RY4 - One vape of it and loved it (Did not give to OH )

Looked on C9 and can find C9(RY4) but cannot find Hangsen(RY4) only RY5 & RY6?

Unless my tunnel vision is kicking in again i cannot find it

Hi Romelee, I would suggest you give vapology's a go as you have the options to Taylor it yourself, I currently have their RY4 with extra flavour plus caramel as an extra added flavour steeping in the cupboard. Smells lush already, I like the caramel bit of RY4 so like the fact I can add more of that at vapology, I choose to have a 50/50 mix of PG/VG loads of vapour! I do like vapescapes as well mind. The very first juice I tried.

It's the same problem i have with Golden Virginia,i have tried 2 suppliers,oksmokey i love but they don't do it in 24 mg strength and misteliquid which was horrible.

The best RY4 I have had yet is from RoyalVapor. They were nice enough to post out some free samples and the RY4 is better than any other I have tried

Stop messing about with all these inferior products and nip over to ECW and get some Vermillion River KY4, vape it then come back and worship ME like a God for telling you!!

No they don't have it premixed at Cloud9, only the flavour concentrate.
I only rarely buy pre made liquid since I enjoy the experimentation that comes with making my own.

The one I liked was from liberty-flights, premixed, now mix my own with a few drops of hazelnut
