Ok, I've been looking for a thread on attys as I'm sure this must have been asked before, but can anyone explain to me in simple terms what they are and how you use them?

We both have Riva 1100's and need to know if the Bauway 306 LR with a 306 drip tip will work and how to use on the battery? Is this all you need or do you need some other bit of kit?

should be fine lr on anything below a 650 can kill your battery it will draw more current and drain battery quicker but should be ok
306 dripper with a drip tip of the same is all you need really the plastick drip one that came with mine splits easilly so www.safercigs.co.uk/306_Drip_Tips/cat705284_871233.aspx these maybe an improvement

Thanks Colli. I can't see how it all fits together though, do you put the atomiser on the battery, and then the drip tip? Or do you need something else? Got no idea what I'm doing here lol

Any advice appreciated guys, think I may be a bit thick. Tried to find a thread that explains it all, or a video, but can't seem to find one. Do people usually use atomisers or are the clearos and cartos mostly used? It's all very confusing ???

Atty = Atomiser, in it's most basic form it's the bauway you already have & will only hold a few drops at a time. You just screw it on to your battery & drip 5/6 drops into it & vape. You can drip through the drip tip, but I find I'm sucking up juice if I do that

Clearomiser (clearo) = Atomiser + clear tank, will typically hold anything from 1.5ml > upwards of 3.5ml. CE4/5, Kanger T2/3, MT3, Viva Novas are all different makes of clearo. Some of them have replaceable/rebuildable heads (the wick & coil part) so they can be re-used. The majority of peeps use some form of clearo, based on personal preference, just because your not constantly having to drip.

Cartomiser (carto) = Atomiser + solid tank with a filler in it. Boge cartos fit this category. Bit more fiddly to fill & you can't see when they need topping up, plus they don't generally hold as much as a clearo, usually only up to 2ml max. Some vendors sell pre-filled cartos but the range of flavours is usually pretty small, although you can refill them yourself.

Both these systems come in different resistance's (ohms), but a general guide if you have a choice would be 2.4 ohms for a riva battery, don't worry to much if something is higher 2.8 or lower 1.8 these will both still work on you batteries, but the lower resistance will drain batteries faster.

Beyond this your getting into rebuildable atomisers which can be rebuilt infinitely, but generally cost a lot more, some getting into the 3 figure mark.

Just carry on going through the threads & you'll get a better idea of what everything means.

Call me over-cautious, but a good few of us won't use a Low Resistance atomizer on a Riva. If your LR atty is 1.8 it'll be fine. If it's really a "low" low resistance, that may not be sensible.

I always have two 306 attys ready to use. LR and SR. The SR is just as good for flavour (well, 95%) and I only use LR on a Lavatube.

If in doubt, just go with a SR.

I reckon a 1.5-1.6 atty on a freshly charged Riva could be producing over 10 watts of "uncontrollable" power.

or, put another way, if I put a 1.6 ohm atty on my Lavatube, there's not much chance I will go higher than 3.6,3.7, 3.8 (?) volts. If your Riva is charged and kicking out 4+ volts, you atty won't last long. Nor will your battery life....

if it makes ya eel better Tay, ive been vapin now for just over a year and when i joined this site all my knowledge i thought i aquired turned out to be tiny compared to whats out there. watch ya purse, this lot aint scared of temptin ya with shineys. itll start off with somthin small and before ya know it, youve spent ya wages lol

Thank you all. And thanks djs, I just checked and it says1.7-1.9ohms resistance, you think it will be ok? Or should I not risk it? Don't wanna knacker our batteries.

Probably be better getting an ego battery for that resistance, they're not expensive and you'll both need back ups anyway
