If you're aim is to give up smoking then don't smoke. There is always going to be something that tells you that you want a fag. Tell yourself no. If you have one today are you allowed one tomorrow? Unless you can say cut down to 3 a day for a week. My advice would be not to smoke but each to their own...

Try something else first...like a mint or something...
I used loads of mints when I first successfully started vaping. It took me 3 months to get the hang of vaping!!!

It took me a few weeks to get off the fags altogether, you will find that if you can go two or three days the fags will taste disgusting, i got to the point where i actually preferred e cigs, would not thank you for a fag now After over 37 years of fags and rollies.
Good luck (although you shouldn't need it)

It took me over 2 months and a half to stop smoking. First 5-6 weeks I was lashing out at everything and everybody, not fun. Then I realised that maybe my E-Lites were actually the problem. (Which they were, thank you *******s) Once I got a proper kit, I dual used for another 5-6 weeks, cutting down. It was the morning that caused the trouble....and the evening....and even after Lunch.....sometimes mid-afternoon too. Have a smoke.... Just keep going.....

Well caved in and had a roll up which to my surprise it was tasteless I get more of a kick from vaping. But now sitting here thinking about it I think it was craving the habbit of actually rolling and then smoking I am missing rather than the nicotine so need to keep my hands busy

Perhaps don't think of it as a relapse but another experience that has helped you realise how much better vaping is!

think youre right browzer. ive gone a week now on the vaping. did it 2 years ago, lasted about a month and went back on the cigs. ive smoked about 15 cigs all week, and i can honestly say i havnt really enjoyed them. its just a habit you have got to get out off. this morning i lit a cig, then had a couple of vapes in between and i defo preffered the taste of the ecig. i vape in the house now, where before i would go outside for a ciggie. its strange not going outside. ???

What I've found browzer is that it's really hard to avoid that nostalgia for the ciggies. Something about them keeps trying to get its hook into you. The best way I can think of it is a scratch you can't itch. The e-cigs can go so far and make it a hell of a lot easier than going cold-turkey, but if you really want to stop the ciggies then it does require a bit of will power. Not as much as totally stopping and it's no bad thing to relapse now and again but you do have to go through the withdrawal problems at certain times. It's a really difficult habit to stop cold so if you can just slow it down at your own pace then you're doing really well.
It's annoyingly tricky though. I have a real problem of a Friday/Saturday, as I always like a few beers on a weekend and that is the trigger for me. I'm watching Match of the Day now and I keep thinking, every time a match ends - go for a fag.
I haven't had one, but man, it's tough even though I keep taking toots on my vapes.
Have a couple tonight and don't worry. It'll get easier mate.

I found in the beginning that I had to deliberately "change" my thoughts so when I thought I needed a cigarette I reminded myself that ecigs were the new way that I got my nicotine. I would say out loud " I dont need a cigarette. This is the new way I get my nic". This method helped me a lot. And dont forget that its not a sin to use both so dont feel guilty if you actually have a cigarette.
