2nd pic looks like you've pushed down the connector too far by overtightening a clearo/carto. This sounds about right, the clearo's push the button down more than a cart does, just get a cocktail stick and prize it up a little bit (not too much). I have to do it everytime i clean/re-fill/change battery for my partner.

I also have to lift the centre pin on my riva batteries after every charge even though i take great care not to overtighten - is there another battery i can look at?

Ok thanks for all the answers. I haven't got anything to try and lift it with so i will get cocktail sticks today.
Should they look so different though, or are they two different types of battery ??? Give they came on a kit stating there was 2 of everything, i thought they'd be identical?

Not sure if they should be the same i have only ever seen the second pic ones but have not been vaping as long as some people. I always use a flat head screwdriver to get it up but always make sure the battery is switched off, maybe i should be using cocktail sticks lol.

I've got a very old Riva/ego battery that looks like the first pic. I can't even remember if it was sold as an ego or Riva, but it was before either of them had the on/off function.
