Already done it!! On British Forces respirators there is a drinking bottle tube. When I was in I rigged up an adaptor to take a fag It could be done to fit a drip tip. Of course you would also take in all the nerve gas etc at the same time.

When they came in we all had the old water bottle caps, had the respirator for over a year before they upgraded our water bottles. Didn't see the point as you still had to Blot - Bang - Rub, lol.

As someone who hasn't ever been anywhere near a respirator, could one of you kind and learned gentlemen explain to us ignorant peeps what 'Blot-Bang-Rub' means - I'm intrigued! Andy

Andy I have been out of the military for some time now but it used to refer to a decontamination drill. Blot - Dab at any visible spots or splashes of contaminant Bang - Pat the DKP2 pad on the affected item to release decontaminant (fullers earth) Rub - Rub the item with the pad, like washing the dishes. DKP2 stands for Decontamination Kit Personal 2nd part - a bit like a brillo pad made of cloth impregnated with fullers earth. DKP1 was a puffer bottle of fullers earth. Don't know if they still use the stuff or even if if would have saved our lives, but it gave us something to do, lol.

That's what I love about the military, they have a procedure for absolutely everything, and to hell with whether it works or not, gives the squaddies something to do! Thanks Raid! Andy

Why am I not surprised Roger, they are not comfortable with change.
The inability of the military to progress was one of the reasons I left when I did.
