I've always been fascinated by wildlife, if I'd have been growing up now I'd have studied to be either a marine biologist or something to do with wildlife, preferably African. I can remember watching Attenborough with my dad when I was young, we only had a little black and white portable TV, but I used to love watching all his, what seemed like mad adventures

He's in the same mould as the 'original' Dimbleby (Richard). Both have (had) a majical hold on their subject, and you knew everything was OK with the world when they spoke. Once David has gone it will be at least another generation before we get his like again (if ever).

So agree with you Dee I could watch his shows back to back all day. I was asked once if you could pick anyone in the world to have dinner with who would it be. I chose him. He has so much to say and does it in a humble a nd interesting way. As for Saturday night TV Chris I just said to Mr Dolly, I cannot believe how much cack is on here for a Saturday night in winter. So bloody sick of reality TV and cheap boring rubbish. To add insult to injury they then go on to repeat it all over and over again.

Without doubt, the greatest living Englishman. Anyone who hasn't read his Zoo Quest books from the 1950's should hunt one down to see where it started.

He's a realist as well, I heard him interviewed the other day on the radio. He never takes credit where it isn't due and is worried about the amount of people on the planet. He's so down to earth, isn't a vegetarian and understands why some people poach wildlife (not talking the cooking here ). He doesn't agree with the poaching, just understands it. I wish there was just a program with him just airing his views. I'm sure they would be similar to mine and it would be a great watch. Ahead of you on the music, got some great tunes coming out of my new pc speakers

My TV is constantly set to ITV3 & ITV4, watching the repeats of Heartbeat, Sweeney etc. Probably an age thing but all this 24 hour news (all doom and gloom), reality TV (just a load of d***heads who think they should be famous (for what!). I'd even watch repeats of Dixon Of Dock Green if they were available, in preference to what's served up now.

Yes, you are right Raffles. To me it seems the more channels we have got these days the worse it has got. I remember way back to the test card days. (the girl with the doll) when we only had three channels and maybe my mind is playing with me, but i am sure the quality and range of interesting things was higher.

Wildlife programmes - eating, searching for a drink, hormonal males fighting and shagging. Reality TV in fur coats??

Although we have sky, we tend to use series record and watch them when we want to see them. There are many interesting shows out there, but there is no doubt the fashion is towards mindless entertainment, rather than interesting programs. Without wanting too much to judge, this is the way society is going, instant gratification, rather then knowledge. You only have to look at top gear to see the way it is going (and the gadget show for that matter), used to be about a decent review, now it's about mindless fun for the masses. I despair sometimes for the celeb generation.
