As i do a few co-op bulk buys,i feel feedback is the way forward, when i send something out i always look for a post or pm confirming receipt of goods and also help with any problems, i see it as a decent and polite thing to resolve things straight away. if people who sell cant respond to a pm or post over a problem within 7 days, my thoughts are they shouldn't be selling here.

Other non vaping related forums that I have been a member of for years say a certain post count of QUALITY posts. Once said member reaches the required post count the member pm's a mod or admin, the mod or admin then checks their posts and if they are happy then they allow them to buy and sell things, if not then they are still not allowed to be able to buy or sell anything. Yes it's a bit of extra work for the mods/admin but it reduces the likelyhood of some dodgy seller ripping someone off.
So basically...
New member No access to clasifieds at all 100 quality posts that contribute to the community Once 100 posts are reached they are checked If ok then access to classifieds is allowed If not ok then still no access
It's a good way of doing it I think, but that's just my opinion.

The safest way to make a transaction is using normal paypal and NOT using the gift option ..... each to their own though I personally don't usually buy or sell ... If I have anything I don't use I give it away

Not sure what happened there. I will start again.
It has to be done on trust. Some like myself read AAE-C every day but do not post very much.
I have bought on the Classifieds a few times and would be penalised (for i only have 67 post) for other member wrong doings.
Basically i'm dissonest untill i have reached 100.
The Mods have enough to do with out reading through post.
NAME and SHAME i say if there is any dishonesty.
Glad its all soerted Mary!!!

Although the forum isn't primarily a vehicle for trading, there are obviously many items bought, sold and swapped between members. My experience and perception is that:- a) very few of these are done to make a profit b) many are done at nominal values or even as freebies c) positive feedback abounds d) senior members are particularly keen to help newbies with juices etc e) on the very rare occasions when something goes wrong people bend over backwards to help and support
Let's not try to fix something that ain't broken

I agree, I would rather trust everybody on here to do the right thing, without having to lay down any new rules.........In every walk of life you always get one............but as im from the up north I shall come up with one of our sayings, I would think he has definately pi....ed on his chips..........his selling days are over. Exactly, I have only been on here for a few weeks but I'm very active on over 30 other forums.. mainly PC related. I have honestly been shocked by the great friendly attitude on here because its very rare. As far as I can see this is almost an isolated incident. I really don't think that knee jerk reactions are the way forward. Newbies are the people most likely to have liquids to sell. Buy lots and only like a few. Shiny upgrades every few days. Are we really saying that someone who posts gibberish a hundred times can be trusted, and no one else can? I really hope not. I'm thrilled you eventually got a resolution Mary and as a Rochdale lad myself, then yeah he has really p****d on his chips but to everyone suggesting this 100 post rule, please think again.

I don't buy from the classifieds or partake in the group buys because they are usually restricted to UK only. If I were buying it wouldn't occur to me to check a member's post count and until I read Mary's thread, I thought reviews were only for authorised vendors. When I read Mary's thread I looked for her negative review and it took me ages to find it. Maybe it would be helpful if there were a sticky in the classifieds section recommending that members check reviews and posting history before making payment. The sticky could include a link to the reviews.
Oops! Feel a bit stupid now cos just had a look and there's a buyer beware warning on Classifieds board and a Feedback sub-board. Next time I'll look twice before putting in my tuppence worth. Sorry Mods.

I've been a member of this forum for over a year and haven't seen a problem with any buying/selling in the classies. There is generally a sense of goodwill between both buyer and seller that fits in well with the 'spirit' of this forum.
Immediately there is a problem then the forum steps in explaining what should or shouldn't happen and what is reasonable and proper etiquette for members. This seems to me a very good way of self policing. There has been little trouble until now so I think it would be good to leave things stand as they are. A forum member had a problem and the forum came wanting to help resolve it and point out what is not acceptable on here. If these instances were to increase then it could be worth looking at changing things. Just my view.

What's stopping you doing a bit of "Self Moderation"?
Personally I look and see the post count, have a look back through the last few posts of the seller and make a judgement based on this.
My personal take on buying ANYTHING over the internet from a classified is "Don't spend more than you are prepared to lose" all purchases should be treated "Caveat Emptor" or Buyer Beware. If I buy anything of higher value I make sure there are safeguards in place, like purchasing through PayPal (not gift) or if it's a vendor by credit card.
