Just an idea regarding Marys situation with a member
Would it be possible to introduce a system where any new member or existing member must have at least 100 posts before selling in classifieds
your thoughts

Probably not a bad idea, it would stop people just coming on here to sell stuff. At least after 100 posts the person should be a little more trusted.
Although you will find if it happens then "newbie sales" will start spamming general forum instead of classifieds.

It's been talked about before River! nothing to stop members posting a load of rubbish in the lounge just to get their post count up! I've read of members on other forums, who have this rule, being encouraged to do this Personally, I wouldn't buy from someone on the classies that only had a few posts, most members probably feel the same! We do have a feedback system that members can check. I'm sorry a couple of members lost out on their transactions, but unless the seller in question sorts it out, he'll not be selling anything else here!

I think we've done very well so far despite this sad episode. Let's not spoil the community feel for one bad apple.

That would just lead to more spammy posts so people can bump up their post count, but I can't think of a system that would work. Although the majority on here can be trusted to do the right thing you always take a risk in a private sale and you have to accept that if you want the stuff.

I agree, I would rather trust everybody on here to do the right thing, without having to lay down any new rules.........In every walk of life you always get one............but as im from the up north I shall come up with one of our sayings, I would think he has definately pi....ed on his chips..........his selling days are over.

Buyer beware ... I think a first post offering a mod for 100 quid is a risk but can transact well ... seemingly, certain existing members are also a risk. At least Mary's experience should help members to regulate it ourselves.
Maybe advice on checking other members feedback and number of transactions first is to be recommended.

I think we should just report these kinds of mis-dealings to the moderators and let them decide whether to allow these types of people to trade on here.

I dont think it matters what ruling is put in place if someone wants to do the dirty then it will happen.

Trouble is mods could then have a full time job of moderating disputes, although I think disputed sales or swaps on here are very rare at the moment. But as vaping takes off and goes more mainstream there'll be a lot of new people coming on here over the next few months and I could see moderating becoming a lot busier.

I dont personally think its a good idea as said before people will start spamming to up their post count and if you didnt have the post count but have an item you to move on you would be restricted
It really should be marshalled by ourselves and as mary has done, put a negative feedback if you have exhausted all other avenues maybe a mod could delete the negative feedback if it was deemed at a later date that it was/is a misunderstanding. (not suggesting this in mary's case)

I am very trustworthy and I am over the 100 post count, most of the time I talk a lot of rubbish and I only signed up to AAEC last month. Would you still buy from me, I doubt it for the reason of being a new member who just waffles. You see its very easily to clock up 100 posts. Would it not be possible to have a feedback system like they do on ebay, then we can make a decision base on feedbacks. Don't have any solutions for first time sellors unless one strike and your out system unless you have a valid excuse. Just waffling again sorry but another post is on the clock.

I agree, a minimum number of posts only means those who wish to abuse use the Classifieds will just post for the sake of getting their post count up.
This discussion has also got me thinking about something else. I have been scouting the classies on this and another well known forum as I am just getting into rebuildables. Don't really know for sure what am after but getting a bit better informed on the prices etc. I have noticed unfortunately that there are a few (hopefully very few) who are ready to pounce on a good deal (more than likely offered up by someone looking for a fair price, but also looking to give a fellow vapour and member of the community a good deal) only to mark it up and sell it on shortly after. I know this by checking the post history. One in particular at the moment (not on this forum thankfully) has marked up an item by 40% on the price they paid, not sold yet he he.
Now I know this is no crime but repetitively doing this somewhat irks me and I will do my best to avoid these sellers. The spirit of the community should be to help others not make a fast buck or 2.
So to cut to the chase before you buy check out the seller and the going rate for whatever you are interested in and ALL please leave feedback positive and especially negative as it helps us all and keeps the community spirit alive and helps protect other buyers.

It really is a shame that this has happened, the classifieds are based on trust, and up until now everyone has lived up to that trust. There is always one selfish person who spoils things for everyone else.
