Horrible Metal Taste With Aga-T2

I'm a little puzzled at the moment, I've just set up two agas one with ss mesh and one with silica. The ss mesh wick is working great however the silica wick one tastes horrible, even though there is loads of vapour and no hotspots I'm getting a very strong metal like taste. I used the maccafan method with 1 length of 3mm wick minus the ss on the ends. The only thing I can think of at the moment is the coil maybe too loose, if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

I'll run through the tank then and see how it goes before pulling it all apart again. I guess I was expecting it to vape similar to the Spheroid which tasted good from the off.

I get the same taste as your explaining. And i found that if one little bit of the wire is not on the wick then i get that taste. It will not go away

Did you flame the wire before wrapping it on the wick?

I have found that too and also if one of the connections has come a little loose, not enough to stop it working but enough to create a bad contact. With all the heat inside an atty, it isnt really surprising that it happens.

Loose coil usually = hotspot, that will give that foul taste. And as robby says, check the connections, a loose one can give a hot spot.

It`s important to get the wire as straight as you can before you start winding the coil, any little kinks in it could cause it to be raised off the wick at that point, even slightly could cause it to burn at that point because it isnt getting the liquid on it replenished when you are vaping. I just started using the ribbon wire and it seems so much easier to keep straight. It may be my imagination but hotspots seem greatly reduced with this stuff

Flaming the wire before coiling takes the 'springiness' out of the wire, theoretically making it easier to wind, ie it holds where you put it and doesn't try to take your eye out

That definitely helped with the ribbon I put on my new AGA s yesterday, really flat on the wick

Yes it helps. On another thread, someone was talking about 'oxydising' the wire. You wouldn't want to do that as you don't want any 'coating' on the wire.

So how do I silica wick my aga-t - it has wick holes for silica but absolute disaster yesterday. Was mortified

How many wraps of the wire. Where does the wick go? Above the centre post or down the side? Is there a prob if it touches the centre post etc?

Need tips....Loving my aga-t btw . If I can get the silica wick to work might have to order another and sell the taifun/spheroid:O
