Was looking at getting a mains plug adapter for my Riva 1100 USB charger as the kit did not come with one, and wondered if I could just plug it into The iPhone mains plug?

I have a dual USB surge protected socket that I picked up from Sainsbury for £7.50 that I fully recommend. It's a Masterplug one and will charge iPads iPods iPhones Rivas Egos you name it, and still has a free 3 pin socket on the front. Attachments:

What is the rated output of the USB sockets Firin ? iPhone5 won't charge from a 500ma USB socket it needs the whole amp.

I have no idea of the technicalities, but I use my Iphone charger plug for my Ego batteries and the Xtar charger I use for the Vamo batts. Everything works, and nothing's been set on fire!

If you plug a device i.e charger that needs 500mah in a adapter with 1 amp rating the adapter will work perfectly as it will be on "tick over". plug a charger or device that draws 1 amp into an adapter rated at 500mah and it will be running at double its rated capacity and will get hot and may fail or catch fire. But again it may be perfectly ok and just be a under rated 1 amp charger anyway the problem there is no way you will know,SO PLEASE USE THE CORRECT RATED DEVICE "THINK OF THE CHILDREN"

Hi Lazydog
I'll be honest and say amps, watts and volts have always confused me.
The iPhone wall plug is 5 volts, 1.0 amps, 5 Watts. So would that be safe to charge my Riva 1100 batteries as others have suggested.
Are you saying it is safe or unsafe?
p.s. sod the children they can buy their own blimmin charger and e-cig! (joke)
