Cost for sensors ; £89 each + vat
then there was 3 hrs labour to replace on top
Came home looked on-line , picked up 2 sensors from parts dealer up the road for £34 each

From what I have read quickly, aftermarket stereos are quite an easy fit and it may be a case of Kenwood stereos fit straight in without having to buy a adapter cable, could probably cut your costs by a third.

Stuff paying that amount!!!.
Timing belt is something you want a mechanic to do.
New discs and pads etc (even drum's) can be changed with a bit of understanding, a heynes manual (or internet), a few tools and a nice regular supply of hot coffe/tea in under a couple of hours.
NO way would I pay that amount for that job. I work in a workshop and know how long "big" jobs take and its a money making scam.
Try indipendants and all the best!

Good grief!
I refuse point blank to use main dealers. All of them are thieves!! Steer clear of Halfords up at Rayleigh as well Karen. My old car failed MOT on handrake. They told me it would cost £150, when i went to pick it up they charged £295!! Thieving gits. I hope you get it all sorted much cheaper than that, and I know its not much solace but i shall buy you lunch next time we meet.

They actually CAN'T charge you any more than the quoted amount without ringing you first to check that is ok BEFORE doing the work. Once it has been done its tough titty on them. I have refused to pay "extra" before as the work/cost had not been authorised and funnily enough the price came down.
Toomey Renault are thieving barstewards too, had a Laguna a few years ago which had leaky rear passenger windows, BOTH of them, when it rained. They wanted £150 to fit a "resealing kit" per door...I did it for £2.50 with a tube of windscreen sealant and some gaffa tape.
