It's sunday afternoon and i'm watching Die Hard, I know right?
Do you think the original film is always better than the sequels? Also, do you agree that Die Hard is possibly the best action film ever made as I do.
Love and Hugs,
MP.

Aliens was better than Alien IMO. Often the sequel is not as good but not always. Best action film for me - terminator 2 - judgement day - also better than its predecessor!

Ooo, tough choice. Modern era/oriental: Ong Bak is definitely up there, mostly because of the comedy dubbing accents. Ong Bak 2 featured the longest single-take action sequence ever (at the time), and is equally commendable. Crouching Tiger is one of my all-time faves.
I do have a soft spot for camp 80s action, though (Arnie's plaintive cries of CHENNY! in Commando get me every time). Sequels tend to be restricted by keeping in-canon and the choices made aren't always the best, they're just squeezing the last few drops out of a good idea. Blade was one of these, although 2 was still enjoyable, 3 was a bit meh. Die Hard is pretty sweet, certainly up there with the best.
TV-wise, frankly I'm disappointed every time Jim Caviezel doesn't kneecap at least one person every ep in Person of Interest. I also miss Buffy, there's a significant lack of ass-kicking women these days.

I've just put sky fall on I wasn't keen, myself. Sure, it's entertaining, but they completely ruined the genius reality reboot of Casino by returning to the sexist & camp memes. I know, I know, 50th anniversary and all that, but I was disappointed. Most people absolutely loved it though - I'll get me coat!

This thread has prompted me to blow off the dust of my Pink Panther collection & I am now embroiled in one of them: Clouseau:........Does your dog bite? Innkeeper:......Nope Clouseau: ( bending down to pat the dogs head ) Dog:.....Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.......Snap..... Clouseau:.....(holding bitten hand)....I thought you said your dog does not bite!!!! Innkeeper:......That is not my dog Pure genius................

That comment about Arnie made me laugh..Proper. I can just about picture it in my minds eye..

It's sunday afternoon and i'm watching Die Hard, I know right? Do you think the original film is always better than the sequels? Often, yes. They never made a "Titfield Thunderbolt 2 : Time for Revenge", did they? Also, do you agree that Die Hard is possibly the best action film ever made as I do. Die Hard Mk1 was fine, the rest were pushing it to where suspension of disbelief wasn't just suspended, it was taking a holiday in the Carribean. Alien 1, the same - the rest of the Aliens were just mince. Predator, ditto. Terminators managed to keep it up for three, but T. Salvation sucked eggs through a straw - weary, old script, rehashed through a blender, yet still comes out the same.
