Dolly, ring your DLA branch and ask them what the payment is for first and if it's not an entitlement, then ring the bank. (Used to be a CAB advisor ) XXX

As Sam has said, it could be arrears, so phone DLA first to save you fannying around. I hope it is arrears.

Just thinking there; if you are getting a Motability car, then the mobility component of your DLA must have been upgraded to High Rate Mobility, therefore it will probably be a back payment from the time that your award was adjusted. DLA rarely make an overpayment. Tax Credits? Well, they're another kettle of useless fish! Fingers really, really crossed that the above is the case. When I worked for CAB, I used to get a warm and fuzzy glow when people got large back payments they were very much entitled to, yet unexpected.

Mystery over. Nothing to do with me. Mr Dollys nursing agency has paid him twice!! LOL I did say to the bank that there was no deposit of the amount on my statement and they are looking into that, but Mr Dolly will have to talk to the nursing agency. Wish this happened every week, it would make being used, and abused by prisoners almost worth it! Oh well, credit card back in my handbag

I was once overpaid when I was a foster carer, quite a lot of money actually(for me anyway). I phoned wages they said they will sort it, nothing happened, told my link worker, he said the same thing.Weeks went on, the money still there. I finally sent them a cheque, this was returned via my link worker who said they could not put it in the system and to keep the money.
So me in charge, 4 kids in tow to town for a fabulous shopping spree, they thought it was christmas all over again!

We were overpaid by £1800 in a lump sum from Tax Credits when they first came out, we new straight away it wasn't right so phoned. They agreed it was a mistake, someone had keyed the wrong amount somewhere on the computer. I asked if they wanted it returned by cheque or what? They said they couldn't take it back that way but would have to take it out of future entitlements. Took about 5 years to clear it, but it was like having an interest free loan, I used it to partly buy a car How ridiculous though that I couldn't just send it back ???

I think it is much better to get that sort of money in a lump sum as you can do more with it. When you get it in little amounts each week it tends to just get swallowed up on day to day living.

That's very true Dolly, and I needed a newer car at the time. It just seems plain stupid though that I wasn't allowed just to give it back!
