I don't mean to be awkward here but i think it's best to "never trust no-one" and never be fooled. If i'd never loved i never would have cried.
Roachie - good here innit ? i think you should post more.

Blue - i appreciate that. I was just being silly.
I'm 99.9% solid and sensible. Every now and then my 0.1% pops out.
I really should monitor myself a little better.

After trying to buy the GGTS from UK Vapers, it would appear that they are having major issues with their classifieds. The GGTS guy had sold or swapped one of his items, buyer is still waiting and not a happy bunny. They have a name and shame section, sadly it's a little late for those that have been done! I think it would be advisable to have a few safety measures, I know that the people who are on this forum now I would trust 100% but there are new users coming onto the forum and there's nothing to say that someone who's ripped someone off on UKV wouldn't move over here and try the same thing. maybe if we didn't allow people to use the classified section and ask for payment by Paypal gift? At least that gives the buyer some protection. I can see how this 'family' has grown and it's wonderful, I'd just hate to see someone come along and spoil our lovely group

Im always wary of reputation systems, especially ones that allow negative decriments. If someone is not on the same wavlength or takes a dislike to a post you have done then its quite easy for a person to be undermined just due to a personality clash.
I think the best way is to research your seller, look for feedback or even general chit chat on the board. Push comes to shove just see if anything has been swapped before and PM the person who bought it. Nothing wrong with doing a bit of digging on a person when cash monies is being exchanged
Regards Jez

A tip if buying of someone your unsure about is to NOT use paypal gift as you then have a comeback on them if you paypal gift them you will loose the money as paypal cannot reverse it. Both scotlad and myself have been taken for a ride this year purchasing second hand mods as they were not as "perfect" as described, I managed to sort mine out as I sold them on and cut my loses but not after dragging the guys name around every forum and giving him a sh#t reputation. As jez says do your research before you buy/trade as it saves a lot of tears in the long run EDIT just to add non of these trades were on this forum

I've been thinking about this and it's a shame that a minority can spoil it for the rest of us who wants to trade. I've not sold anything on here (yet) but have done over at ukv. Let's say (just picking names out of a hat here) Jez wanted to buy something off me, doesn't know me from Adam, and is a bit wary. We could have a designated money holder (say perpetua). He sends her the money, I send him the goods, if alls ok, she sends me the money. If he's not happy, he returns it to me and once received, he gets refunded. Second part would have to be paypal gift though as too much commission would be paid. Wouldn't be too much hardship and both parties would be happy.

Nah. It won't do. Perpetua will buy two GGTS and have them turned into earrings and then everyone will be cross.
It's an imposition on Perpy and there's really no need for it. Just don't make PayPal Gift payments. If the seller wants £30 then the buyer can PayPal £30 and opt to pay the commission and have buyer protection.

It's a conumdrum isn't it . . . and whilst Clutty is absolutely right in not paying by a PP gift payment to give yourself buyer protection . . . lets be honest most of us would buy something via a Classified in order to save some dosh. There are sometimes ( but not always ) warning signs when you're dealing with someone relatively unknown on a forum . . . one of the members on here who got burned on another forum, asked me for advice on the deal . . . I advised them to avoid the particular seller like the plague as it all just sounded so wrong, to me anyway . . . . they didn't. I do appreciate Clutty looking out for me but if anyone on here wanted to do as Blue suggests . . . I'd be happy to act as the ' money holder ' although I think a instant bank transfer would be a better option as PP don't appreciate too many Gift Payments going through someone's account. As obtaining a GGTS is like Mission Impossible and I have one already, the funds would be perfectly safe with me.

Like i said, i picked a name out of a hat, perpy's was it!. Even using paypal without the gift option, people are getting burned. Going through the paypal reclaim all takes time. Was just a thought, scrap it, clutter knows best.

Not so hasty Blue . . . been thinking about this today and I rather think if this practise were adopted by forums in cases where the buyer had reservations about a certain private seller . . . it would make any scammer think twice about stitching someone up. That's my personal thoughts on how scammers work anyway, don't like to see anyone losing there hard earned cash to a nasty.

I would'nt like to lose cash on a deal and don't like people scamming others, especially when we're supposed to be a friendly lot (alegedly).
