Due to a downturn in our income, I have recently taken up the noble art of Mixology, and have produced (to my palate) a couple of really nice juices. I have also discovered Grants Vanilla Custard so, with this in mind, I made an order with one of the vendors specialising in DIY ingredients. This order turned up today, and fired by the desire to create my own VC as soon as possible, I donned a pair of gloves and mixed feverishly (well, OK, it was quite warm in the kitchen!) until I had concocted. Now I know all you DIYers out there will choke on your Horlicks, but I made a whopping 30ml of this creation, thinking that I can always add extra flavouring later if the taste isn't to my satisfaction, or in a last-ditch attempt to come up with a vapable juice, the tried and tested menthol! Well it's been steeping for a massive . . . . wait for it . . . . . 4 hours! and I just couldn't resist trying some. Now you have wiped up the spilt hot milky bedtime drink, you are about to projectile spit it all over your PJs once again - I filled a Mini Nova - it was the only clean receptacle I had to hand! And if the steeping process is to be believed, and after 3 weeks it matures to a deep brown hue with mellow notes of custard and vanilla (with a little MTS added for good effect), then I think I'm onto a winner. It tastes as it should, the vapour is acceptable, and the colour is already quite, err, tanned. I will report back after a more reasonable steeping period, but in the meantime I'm going to bed a very happy bunny. Oh, and that 30ml of 12mg juice cost me about £3 I reckon - result! Andy

As my Gran used to say Dicky, "a little bit of what you fancy does you good!" Andy

And may it always be said your gran is very wise! If the gifted stock from a very generous AAEC member doesn't arrive tomorrow I may have to have a little sample!

Lol . . . so pleased you've had success Andy. And for anyone wanting to speed up the steeping process, who doesn't have an UC, then a few seconds zapping in the Microwave or standing the bottle repeatedly in a cup of warm water, will hasten the process. Forward planning/mixing is key with any of these VC type mixes, if you don't have the patience for the process to take place naturally.

standing the bottle repeatedly in a cup of warm water Few questions on that... How long in the warm water for, say for instance a new bottle of GVC? How deep in the water do you place the bottles? Bottle lids on or off? In darkness? How often do you shake the bottles? Think that's all

I'm assuming Romelee that we take the bottles out of the water before shaking them Good questions though - how long in the water, and how deep? Also, by how much does this hasten the steep - will it for example cut the time from 3 weeks to 1 week, or is it even more drastic than that? Andy

What mixture did you use Andy? Just curious to compare it with mine.

Dicky - it was Post Modern 53mg PG nic base, 75/25 PG/VG mix, 12mg, with 10% each of F'Arts Custard and Vanilla Tahiti flavours, plus 1% MTS Vape Wizard - still smelling lovely, will wait another week and then mix up another batch, and try to keep at it at weekly intervals so I never run out! Once funds allow I will be getting some Dulce de Leche and Sweetener (but not aspartame!) so that I can truly replicate other recipes. Andy

I went with Perpetuas receipe in the mixology sub forum. It's smelling lovely at the moment after a week and so far have managed to keep my dirty mitts away from it. Once I check I like it I will be knocking up a weekly 30ml batch as well, in a drunken moment of madness I bought 30mls of vanilla custard flavouring in preparation of this!

What make of flavouring is yours - Capella? I know they supply in 30ml bottles, but don't know of any other vendor that does. Andy

Think that's all * Until the water cools * Covering the liquid in the warm water * Lids on. * Moonlight would be preferable * Every few days if it's freshly mixed Or . . . just do it the old fashioned way and wait for natural steepage Rom.

The alchemists cupboards sent me 3 x 10ml bottles rather than one 30ml one. Makes no odds to me though, shed loads of PVC to be made!
