JD Wetherspoons and vaping

Brought back memories of a cloud of smoke in front of the screen in the days when an ice cream attendant would appear in the interval.

As for Weatherspoons I would find it awkward vaping in a pub, I know it may seem strange but I wouldn't like to attract attention to myself it's probably the reason we have never had anyone ask us about PV's, although in a beer garden we always do it.
Must add I have nothing against anyone else doing it and good luck to you, it will help spread the word I'm sure, but it's not for me

I went to a pub in Orpington, Kent on friday and once we'd had one drink we felt ok about having a vape. The pub wasn't all that busy so i chatted to a couple of locals and explained what i was "smoking". During the conversation they both had to go outside to have a "fag".

Did make me chuckle. I felt comfortable though. To be honest, if you think about it, it probably wouldn't be all that pleasant if you went to a pub for something to eat and half the pub was vaping. I know it's harmless but i'm not all that sure if i'd be totally comfortable with it.

I totally agree Dell.Even though its only vapour it would certainly offend people sitting down for a meal.Its part of my locals rules,they say by all means use it, but only in the bar and not in the area where people are eating.I think thats more than fair tbh.

I think we vapers develop a mischievous need to do it anywhere, and see what happens mentality.
I can't help myself, I have a quick vape and look around to see if anyone notices. Trouble is no-one does

Bad news re. Wetherspoons pubs vaping

I was in Cooper Rose tonight. Wetherspoons derivative.

I got forcibly evicted for 'smoking'. Bouncers frogmarched me to the exit and literally threw me out.

First time ever in a pub for me. I showed them the card from libero, stating that vaping isn't smoking...no notice at all.

Not good.

If there's anywhere I can complain to, I'd like to know....not impressed by their attitude at all.

I wanna kick there asses for you buck (I probs wouldnt be much use but it would provide much needed entertainment).

I didnt even occur to me before to see vaping awareness as a really worthy cause. As a mere social smoker I just got into vaping 'cos I think its cool', but I forgot what a great lifestyle improvement and 'way out' vaping offers to previous cigarette addicts. If I can help- I'm in.

The bouncers did there job...and tbh I'm glad they did!

Vaping in a public place will always cause problems and the righteous stance is silly.....it will only cause more harm than good.

Ask and vape...simple if you must! You know it's just vapour ...but you also know others do not!

It's the man handling rather than the no vaping rule, that I think is objectionable And . . . any establishment reserves the right to permit/disallow something on it's premises. Same as we can choose whether to patronise it or not, because of it's policy.

A quiet word with Buck by a doorman would have been more appropriate to my way of thinking.

I've still emailed their customer services for clarification in the future, and the bouncer should have just told me to leave if it was bugging him that much.

He obviously thought it best to pick me up from behind and march me to the entrance, all 5ft 5 and 9 stone of me. Lol.

I agree with the points above. It was still violence in the face of ignorance tho, which is bad, and deserves death.
