well i don't.
fresh rollies/tabs smell rather nice when first lit in my opinion.
it's when they've gone out and half a pouch/pack later that it can be said that yes, there is an unpleasant smell around.
the second smelly bit always seems to cancel out the first bit though.

I think the term stinkies is just a derogatory word we all use just to enforce the hatred that we need to display towards cigarettes. Also it helps us keep on the right path, that is, vaping

I love the smell of a fresh ciggie and quite enjoy standing next to someone who is smoking. I wouldn't dream of trying one myself though. You see I didn't stop smoking because of the smell of them and it wasn't until I was away from them for sometime that I began to realise that the smells that they created around me and on my clothing, really stank to high heaven. But it is for my own health reasons that I stopped smoking cigarettes.
It is the atmosphere that surrounds burnt tobacco that stinks not the fresh burning of tobacco be it cigarettes or pipe tobacco.
So although we sometimes refer to cigarettes as stinkies, they are being misnamed. It is in fact the stink that they cause.
Although the "clean" term given to e-cigs it is also misplaced in that they also do have a residue smell which some people find unpleasant. My latest mix, Melon Bomb leaves a smell in the house of cinnamon which my OH can find a bit overpowering, although I myself cannot smell it. So perhaps e-cigs could also be called "stinkies" dependant on what flavour we are vaping at the time.
The basic difference between the smell of smoking and the smell of vaping is that cigarettes leave an unpleasant smell after the cigarette has gone out, whereas vaping can have an unpleasant smell while it is being vaped, but that smell disappears when the vaping is finished.

I believe using the term 'stinkies' builds a long bridge between us and smokers so they are bad and we are good, do we need to make it harder for them to convert? i know it does stink but think of the children... ;-)

I walked into my local post office several days ago to post some vaping bits I'd sold. After several minutes in the queue I could smell a smoker had joined the queue, they weren't actually smoking but I could tell they were a smoker because they absolutely wreaked of cigarette smoke, it was really strong and I couldn't wait to get out because the smell was so bad. When I got home I told the wife of my aromatic post office visit and I said did I used to smell of fags that bad, she said yes, I felt so embarrassed and ashamed but at the same time happy that I don't anymore as is she. So yeah, I agree with the term stinkies because they create a very unleasant smell on the user. Just goes to show how much my sense of smell has improved in 7 months.

I walked into a shop through a group who'd been smoking under the canopy. It was so strong I gagged & almost vomited. Have to say I was ill at the time. I'm not usually so woosy.

There's 2 reasons why I dislike that word. One being that it does seem to be a derogatory term for smoking cigarettes, something we all used to do. We ourselves really aren't that much better are we? We've only substituted one addiction for another, it doesn't mark as being more superior. And in order to campaign our way of feeding that addiction, I don't see it as helping out cause if we alienate that section of society. Also, secondly, I think it sounds childish if im being brutally honest, we're all adults, yet use that daft word. That is of course just my opinion but I'd personally rather use the word "cig" for stinky, plus its less letters to type

Doesn't bother me in all honesty Beepsie, it's just a word . . . I say cigs/ciggies which is what I called them when I smoked, so I don't see the reason to change. The term ' analogues ' I can't get my head around, but again it doesn't bother me. Each to their own from me.

I like 'analogues' - it makes sense to me as in 'digital' smoking = the technical evolution of smoking, making it better, faster, safer etc.

Sorry to disagree but to me they are stinkies, stinkies that I used for 36 long years! I now hate the smell, on the odd occasions that I go to the local pub, I heave when I go outside as everyone congregates around the door smoking. I really cannot abide the smell. Even worse is the cannabis smell, I'm like a bloodhound now and though I've never liked the smell, now it puts me in 'kill' mode Smoking rollies I think I was always aware of the smell and have smoked outside for many years, not allowing anyone to smoke in the house. I'm a foster carer too so it was a good idea to make sure the kids that did smoke followed my example. The rule breakers have never got away with it as I can smell it as soon as I go near their bedrooms if they've been 'naughty!' One that's just left was a heavy cannabis user and I've accused him many times of using it in the house, then I realised it was just the lingering stink from his clothes

I hate the use of replacement words for things that we don't like which is why you never find me calling them anything but cigs or fags ect The smell of tobacco is actually quite nice TBH, But the moment you set fire to it you can bugga off away from me cos it reeks

I must admit I like the smell of someone smoking,it doesn't bother me at all. The unpleasant smell comes from the ashtray full of dog ends that is left to fester.

I to love the smell of freshly burning tobacco. I use all sorts of words to describe them. There is not one that annoys me more than any other.
