...if we're all adamant that vaping is not meant as an NRT but an alternative to smoking, then I think we'd need our own category. I think it would be great if we did have our own category and hence official stats. I don't trust the numbers that the EU directive uses, which seem way too high - growth rate of 20% to 30% per month for instance. I suspect they come from suppliers who are including sales to EU countries like Denmark where they are banned.

Without wishing to denigrate the nurse, I wouldn't be too disapointed as I don't think nurses are the most knowlegable members of the NHS. If it had been a doctor who had made those comments however, I probably would have been a little more annoyed - only a little though, as even some doctors don't appear to know much about ecigs and vaping etc. Just be happy that YOU know you have given the cigs up and it is YOU who will be getting the benefits of doing so in the coming years. Ohhhh that's a tad harsh there...... ....

Ohhhh that's a tad harsh there...... .... I'm not so sure it is harsh I'm married to a nurse and have friends who are nurses, but none of them know everything, they are all pretty clued up within their working environment and have some basic knowledge of other health stuff, but even my hubby will happily admit that I know more about certain things than he does! Practice nurses are there to do some pretty basic stuff, but stuff from all over the health spectrum. Most people realise that GPs can't know everything as they have to be 'jack of all trades' and the practice nurses know a lot less! I pretty much ignore any drivel that comes out of any practice nurse's mouth and have been known to ignore some GPs too!

I attend a Chest Clinic on a 6 month basis, I said to the chest specialist that I had started vaping and said I no longer smoked. He said that he was happy that I gave up the cigs, and has no objection's to me using an e-cig his word's where better than the fag's, and after a year he had written on my notes that I was no longer a smoker and my own GP has the same opinion. I tend to think it depends on your own Specialist or GP.

The other bug bear is decent GPs that can't treat patients as individuals due to NICE guidelines! It's a wonder we have any 'health professionals' left really!

I recently changed my life insurance and was told I was still classed as a smoker as I used nicotine ,if I had lied,it would of saved me money but possibly given them another excuse not to pay out to my family

I think sadly you just had a bad experience with someone who would have trouble identifying posteriors from synovial hinge joints. I can normally spot a posterior when someone is talking from that vicinity.
