Me and my wife have been through it a lot over two a half years. My wifes brother died of cancer aged 42. Two weeks later my mam died suddenly, four days after that my mams boyfriend died. Last August my wifes other brother took his own life, then on Boxing day her dad had a stroke. May 9th our cat had to be put to sleep after nearly 21 years, then on 10th May my wifes aunt died of cancer. We have been put through the mill and its taken its toll, its been a lot to take in, in such a short time.

I understand and I feel for you both. From April through to September close friends and relatives were going down like ninepins with serious illnesses and two died. I have seasonal funeral outfits now Amidst all that I had a serious car crash although I wasn't badly injured, thankfully. Thought I was doing fine but in Nov I resumed cigs after nearly 7years of quitting and finally admit I'm not in a great place at the moment. I'm being kind to myself though and absolutely not doing anything I don't want to and I'm sleeping a lot (not much at night though, unfortunately). I am going to institute a regime of sleep hygiene though, otherwise I shall miss any summer we have.

Sorry to hear about all of that Clutter and 'I' thought my family was cursed! Its funny how it takes a real tradgedy in your life to make you back on the cigs after all those years, but at least your getting yourself together by vaping and being able to tell others whats happened to you. I sometimes have a lot of trouble sleeping and the slightest upset either at work or with other problems and that makes doing things I normally like a chore, but at least you have recognised the problem and can do something about it.
Good Luck

Thanks Tyne Don't think of your family as cursed, though. Superstitious or philosophical or physcobabble, but, If you think you're unlucky you become unlucky IYSWIM.

No, No, No, Roachie . Loss is loss. It can't be weighed, balanced, counted and compared. Tyne and I are older than you, so naturally we have experienced more losses. I'm glad you started this thread about your Grandad but sad that it was necessary for you to do so.

Sometimes just airing your thoughts is a release so I'm glad your shared as well and Clutter is right it cannot be weighed or balanced everyone grieves in their own way and your grandad must have been a big part of your life.

Just needed to get it out then i felt so much after i wrote that tbh. That's just what I was thinking when reading your post, Roachie. You have a safe haven here to express your feelings, and I know how the very action of getting it in print in front of you is such a release.Clutzy is so right about feeling unlucky making you unlucky - {{{Clutz}}} I do hope you can get your sleep pattern back on track, it's vital, and I'm speaking as one who's in the same boat and has been for years Somehow I don't think I need to worry too much about you, though, I think you're a very strong lady who will take herself in hand Tyny, I can't imagine how you've come through those losses and tragedies... there are no words Love to everyone here who has lost loved ones and people who cared for you. scylla
