I don't mind the dogs being muddy...so much.... it's when they rise up from where they've been sleeping and leave a great big muddy imprint on the carpet Then there is the pile of towels used to (try) to dry them off they look like they've been dragged through the garden.. come to think of it.. thanks to the pup..a few of them have Along with shoes, boots, slippers, socks, belts and anything else the little tyke can reach/carry Roll on summer

I`m in my 70th year on this Earth, I vaguely remember 2 metre deep snow in 1947, but this weather at my age is really depressing. Where is the `Spring`, as I write this, it is SNOWING in Staffordshire, where I live. This drab horrible weather causes the populous to be sad, unhappy and unhealthy with `colds` and other cold weather relating illnesses. Added to this weather, we have a declining standard of living for the bulk of the UK residents, which also makes us feel depressed. In many respects I am glad I am not in my early 20`s, trying to get employment or purchase a home to live in these austere times. (sorry for this slight deviation from the OP, but needs to be stated). (regardless of political parties in power. THEY ARE ALL "INCOMPETENT!!). jeff.

That's a dog! I seriously thought it was a problem fur cat. Sorry I remember my grandad talking about the 1947 weather and how he had to tunnel to the toilet at the end of the garden, through the snow. If ANYONE can tell me they still live in such conditions, bearing in mind he'd just got back from Italy/Africa fighting in WW2 and he hadn't seen his family for 5 years..... In fact if anyone can tell me they still have to go to the bottom of the garden to go to the loo, I might be interested. Otherwise, suck it up and sort yourself out.

Otherwise, suck it up and sort yourself out. Easy to say, not so easy to do! Womble... What I'm saying is that this weather is not a 'one off' and yes I've gone through the 1947 & 1963 winters, albeit I don't remember much about the 1947 one as I was only 1 year old! But I DO remember going to the outside loo in winter, and in certain areas of the country that this feeling is coming back. Some of us do not feel we've progressed, and so much is out of our control.

Some of us do not feel we've progressed, and so much is out of our control. Of course we've progressed, how many people are now without central heating? and it's always been out of our control. I won't say it's perfect, but in this country we have it extremely cushy, if you don't believe me, try going to most other countries and living on the dole. There was this program on BBC1 the other day about a dairy farmer going to Africa and doing his job over there. He said much the same thing as me, once you see how others live, it makes any complaints we have, seem a nonsense.

Well we have a car meet this Sunday, so glad I booked it at a pub for Sunday carvery, it will be 5 mins chat in the car park and then into the warm. Having said that we seem to hang about longer in the car park after the meal, warm jacket needed.
Also South Shields fair has always re-opened at Easter I would have liked to take my 19 month old grandson but I don't think that's wise this year.
