I saw this being done on youtube
I tried it with a screw from a wall socket......the coil diameter was too wide in my opinion
what diameter are the screws in the link......Just gives the length if I'm not mistaken
Also how are you findin getting the wick in place (Beading needle???)

Diameters are from M1.6 upwards, and around 16mm length upwards. I twirl it onto the wick, fiddly but it works

I had read in the past that an M2 bolt could be used and a tip was to get a white plastic M2 bolt which made it easier to see the Kanthal. I searched around locally but could not find a white plastic one I don't know if the little plastic bolts that hold your car number plate on, is the right size?

I don't know if the little plastic bolts that hold your car number plate on, is the right size? M6 unfortunately. I've seen M3s used on motorcycle fairings/screens. For smaller you might try the internals of an old CD/DVD drive. ISTR the plastic worm drive for the head was quite small.

Great idea, should be possible to find a screw that just the right size so that you can get the wick in without any strangulation. When the wick get`s wet it will swell a little for a perfect fit A nylon one should be great, slip it off easily

A 2mm thread will give you a 1.7 internal diameter 4mm thread will give you a 3.2 internal diameter If you use a brass screw you will be able to see your windings better.
