Just discovered my e-mail account has been spammed. Not 100% sure, but it could have been through a link on here. Just to let you all know.

Yeah. I've now created a new e-mail account just to be on the safe side. Was a bit concerned because a few members have my e-mail address & may have received dodgy e-mails from me.

I have 5 email address's

1 for very secure things
1 for famous shops, i.e Asda,Argos etc
1 for vaping
1 for gaming
1 for sites i am a bit wary of

I have noticed a few of my customers, about 10, have sent me spurious links which is basically spam and they are probably not aware that all of their contacts are receiving these self replicating spam. They have no subject attached just a date and time in the reference field. There must be a virus doing the rounds and being passed onto others so beware of such e-mails.

Obviously if you receive any e-mails with no subject or a garbled subject do not open them and delete them completely.

I find Mcafee security is one of the best e-mail spam and virus catchers around and I recall them giving 6 months free if you like them on their facebook page or an install CD can be picked up for a few pounds on ebay. I am not affiliated with Mcafee but from experience I found Norton could not find an obvious virus on my PC but Mcafee did and fixed it.

I get them all the time from friends, they seem to die off themselves without anyone doing anything oddly enough.
They are usually something like " hey I got extra money doing homework from (insert link)" I just delete them and move on.

Yep I got one too..

I did a spybot & avast scan macca & have, as you know, changed my e-mail addy & passwords now.....The scans didn't show up anything.

Chris, you've probably been hacked or cloned, which is a right PITA, but a quick password change should put you right.

Just thinking though.... not so long ago, when I Googled my email addy for something to do, it showed up & unbelieveably, it was along with my password.
& It was on a foreign forummy type thing, but it was there, along with lists of others & defo not put there or given out by me. Apart from being totally gobsmacked, a quick PW change happened, before anything untoward could.

As you've just been hacked or whatever, it might be a good idea for you, Chris, it would be interesting to see if yours showed up anywhere.
In fact everyone might think about Googling their email addys & see what comes up, hopefully nothing & certainly not with passwords.
