Taste V Smell

It doesn't seem to matter what flavour I am vaping in the house or in the car, the OH cannot get the same smell as the flavour I am using.

Like I can understand that when I am vaping Melon Bomb and she smells Cinnamon because there is cinnamon in it, but she cannot smell any Melon.

If I am on a tobacco flavour it is Caramel she smells, yet I can taste no caramel in the e-juice.

Recently I have been vaping a lot of Peach flavours and all she can smell is Highland Toffee Fudge!

Perhaps 50 years of smoking has damaged my sense of smell, but I ask you, Peach for Fudge!!!!

The trouble is that she is probably correct and they actually do use those sorts of flavouring to come up with our e-juice blends, but I for one would never use Fudge to replicate a Peach Flavour.

Then again I would never have thought of mixing cinnamon with melon to enhance its flavour.

Gosh, by the massive amount of answers to this question, NOT, I am wondering if my Missus is the only one that smells the actual ingredients that go into our e-juices or perhaps her sense of smell has gone walk-a-bout.

My OH can't taste much difference between my wide range of juices, he thinks they all taste the same - but he is a big perma-bunged-up freak

Have you ever actually tried determining what a flavour is without knowing beforehand? It's actually quite difficult in some cases!

The taste v smell thing is weird. Regardless of what I'm vaping, the OH always seems to smell vanilla. Even when it isn't GVC (which it often is...). There are worse things it could smell of...

This morning I was vaping Chocolate & Limes and all she could smell was the bloomin' Highland Toffee Fudge again.
I don't even have Highland Toffee Fudge, either in an e-juice or the real thing!

Is there any e-juice that actually smells of what it tastes like?

My son can always tell when I am vaping Artic Cherry. Others he can't tell what they are.

More to the point, is there a juice that tastes of Highland Toffee Fudge? I'd have some of that!

Taste and smell are strange senses and they work in tandem, which is why we often can't taste things properly if we have a cold or blocked nose. Professional perfumers can identify several thousand individual aroma elements ranging from the woody, musky base notes to the light floral top notes. Wine tasters or tea tasters can be equally discriminating with different tastes. Most of us are not able to make this level of discrimination and are not trained or have the vocabulary to do so.
As you are tasting as well as smelling your vape, you will experience it differently to Mrs Lobey who is only using her nose. None of this explains Highland Toffee Fudge of course!

On occasion I've filled a carto full with juice that has smelt lovely only to discover it tastes

So far there is only one juice that both me and SWMBO can smell when its being vaped is GVC.She can smell my SF/CF mix but i cant.I guess smell is as individual as taste is.

As most folks that are into the vaping game are ex-smokers, I am surprised by the number of e-juice manufacturers that there actually are.

I say this because as an ex-smoker, I know that my senses of smell and taste are shot to hell and all but thee strongest of flavours are going to satisfy my needs as an e-juice.

However I am sure that those who blend perfumes, whisky, wine and even e-juice would never have smoked in their entire life, so how do you find someone that can blend e-juices when they don't know what flavours, especially tobacco ones, that vapers are looking for in the first place?

Perhaps this is why that although some e-juices come close to the British Cigarette taste, no one has as yet brought out an e-juice that matches it in either taste or smell.

I guess this is why many smokers come vapers drift away from tobacco flavours that don't meet their requirements and head towards more exotic flavours, myself included.
