50 days no smoking and nasty side effect emerges

Quite gruesome, but I had noticed when I got up the other morning that my lips were stuck together. When I got to the bathroom mirror, my lips were BLACK. 

F*#k me! I thought, I'm turning into a zombie. Opening my mouth revealed that the whole of the inside was coated with, what I assume to be black sticky tar. After first shitting myself, (do zombies do that?) I calmed down, spent 10 minutes scrubbing flushing & cleaning and realised that my lungs must be clearing themselves. Its happened 3 mornings on the trot now.

Didn't expect that to be honest.

Anyone else had this?

OR, if not does anyone happen have a copy of "How to speak Zombie: A guide for the living" by Steve Mockus, as my OH has trouble understanding my first words of the day when I am 'normal' as it is?

cant say I had anything like that, Are you aware of coughing it up? perhaps a trip to the Docs to put your mind at rest

Well I got me 6 monthly Asthma check-up in 2 weeks so will mention it then.

I did cough up a little black stuff after about 2-3 weeks but nothing since

I will ask her opinion on vaping / e-cigs.

I will the give her mine.

Will be interesting to see if the two match

Oh my good God no! Can honestly say nothing like that happened, I'd have been a gibbering wreak if it did. I didn't even cough any nasty stuff either. Poor you, that'd proper freak me out.

Boo I would be concerned that you haven't coughed anything up, unless you were a really light smoker.

think you should see a doctor, havn't heard anything like that before , might not be anything, but I should def grt it checked out to be on the safe side.

No, I honestly haven't, and I wasn't a light smoker either I smoked on average 15 rollups a day for 20 years or so.

When I first went on to vaping, I was coughing up so much tar that I thought of spreading it on the front path and putting a row of Cats Eyes down the centre.


Seriously though, I think this is something you should be seeing the doc about and if it is as serious as you are saying, I wouldn't be waiting the two weeks.

Gosh, that sounded awful so had to google it. It sounds like you are right, it's probably your lungs clearing the rubbish out which can look like black tar/oil. Something to do with the cilia hairs becoming clear and standing up. But it could be also caused by bronchitis if you are coughing a lot. Definitely get it checked out though, straight away.

Thanks for the advice, agree its better to be safe than sorry. Now for my next trick...Getting a Doctors appointment.....I might try that new 111 if they start it up on Monday.

Whilst I have felt massively better since giving up the analogues, I have unfortunately succumbed to a particularly bad strain of 'Man-Flu' and of course, being a man, have just well....Manned up to it. My Wife of course doesn't understand how serious this debilitating illness can be and got a little....Stroppy, when I suggested that my condition could be a little more serious than her sore throat.

Man-flu, as we all know, also affects our beloved womenfolk, with typical symptoms manifesting in the clear shrinking of their sympathy gland.....

Oh Sh#t, my beloved is just reading through this thread from the top on her little netbook.... If you dont hear from me in the next hour, call the fire brigade but tell them to bring a VAMO EXTRACTOR!
