Riva deluxe arrived pt 2

So, re my earlier post, I switched the battery that had an amber light on the charger, into the second charger I bought and it soon turned from red to green.
However, having read alot about using the Riva I dived in and set it up with an evod clearomiser. My kids were on my ipad, but I was pretty certain I knew what I was meant to do...Not...I filled the e-liquid via the wrong hole (via the battery connection)!!! Stupidest nOOb of the week? I think so..
I wiped as much of the liquid as I could, filled the clearo via the correct hole, clicked the battery 3 times then gave the battery 4 x 1 second hits, then held the power button down and inhaled slowly...It popped and crackled as I inhaled, but I got no vapour, just a foul chemical taste (from an e-liquid that was sold as steeped already)

ANy advice please? (Other than get the ipad off the kids!)
I'm thinking I need to clean out the clearo and try another?

ANother question, do you hold the button on the battery down for as long as you inhale?

Yes, hold the button down. Some folk start a little before drawing (which makes sense) and some continue to drag after letting go, which...um.....also makes sense.

Personally, I've not analysed it that carefully.

Oh, hold on. No vapour? Are you sure it's properly filled and securely on?

If you are tasting e-liquid (which will taste rough...) and no vapour, something's not right. No panic...

My EVOD popped & cracked initially - still does little bit from time to time.

I would say, take the evod off

Hold tissue underneath and blow quite hard through mouthpiece several times.

Now put back on to battery, and give 2 or 3 slow draws without power, to ensure the wick is soaked.

Then try again. Press button 1 sec before inhaling to build up vapour.

-Wait - did you unscrew the bottom of the EVOD to fill? It is different to the top fill clearos. It is bottom fill. I'm wondering now if you just filled through the drip tip?

Jake, have you filled the clearo or just put a small amount in? If I use a small amount I hold the Riva horizontally and make sure the top of the wicks are wet. Then press button for a couple of seconds and give it a try. If its the first time using it you may need to draw on it a few times before you get a vape. If you are tasting the liquid make sure you haven't got any down the centre hole. Unscrew the clearo, take the drip tip off, hold a piece of tissue underneath and just blow it through. Reassemble and try again. Any more problems just keep asking

Another user error! The clearo I used was in fact the clearo that came with the Riva kit from Vape Escape which is Vision Ego Standard Resistance Clearomiser.
I've taken it off and given it a good wash in warm water and put on one of the EVOD BC Clearos, filled it correctly with some Archangel Maple liquid and have just enjoyed a delightful first inhale...

Good job, Jake.

Next advice - get them kids off the iPod (or wait till they've gone to bed) and check out youtube videos on filling/cleaning/rewicking/etc all your different clearos.

But in the meantime, enjoy your Maple in the EVOD.

A lovely flavour, but not quite the throaty hit I hoped for..Time to look into resistance I guess, these EVods are 2.5 ohms and I understand that there are lower resistance versions too.

Any alternative suggestions for a clearo that might give more of a throaty hit please?

What juice are you using?  A higher percentage of PG or higher nicotine will both give good throat hit!

These are dual coil and a lower resistance than what you have, so should give more throat hit

at some point in the future you could think about getting a vv battery, so you then can turn the volts up to get more vapor/throat hit

Its made by Mountain Vapor in the US but I got it via archangelvapor who operate out of Malta. Yummy stuff.
