Raggy, that might mean your attie is dying or it could mean your battery isn't fully charged or not performing correctly.
Do you have any manual batteries? If so remove the cart, press the button for a couple of seconds & see if the attie gets nice & red.
Using a manual battery in this way can help burn off built up residue on an attie - however, if the attie is on it's last legs it may kill it.

YW Raggy. I've not bought any generic e-cig batteries in over a year so the manual ones, weren't available back then - Lol how times have changed But I'm fairly certain that the manual batteries are a good way to go. Or better still a big battery mod

One of my 901 atties is on it's way out - I found the draw was getting more difficult and the vapour production had fallen quite a bit. I tried blowing it through and draining it overnight but nothing made any difference. I didn't get a mouthful of juice at any time though - are you sure you haven't been flooding the atty? the only time I've had that problem has been when the battery's low on the 901s; it doesn't happen with the Evos or 510s, they just stop working when they need charging.

Even with a big battery mod it's a damn nuisance trying to sus out which component is causing the fall-off in vape But at least with a manual you can test the atty like Chrissie has said. I'm sure I am beguiled into flooding mine because I think they need refilling but it's actually the battery. Do not throw away dead atties, Raggy, because sometimes they miraculously come back to life. Not always though scylla

ive been swapping the 2 atties all evening and its certainly going also the replacement battery is also faulty. to be honest im a bit peeved off as im running 4 bats and 2 atties in sequence,so in theory i should be good for at least 60 days and it dont look like this is gonna happen,or even nearly happen. at this rate it will be costing double what the rollies were costing. i might live a little longer though. ragjoy.....

Yep Raggy, you will live a little & most probably a heck of a lot longer.
Any more thoughts on buying a mod?
I'm still using the 2 14500 batteries that I got with my GG last June. I panicked just before Christmas in case they gave up on me & ordered 2 more from Lisa @ cloud 9. However, I've still not even opened the package they came in.

I agree with you ragjoy; I bought most of my hardware at the same time and now I'm expecting it all to start failing at the same time and pretty soon. I've even noticed the performance of my Screwdriver batteries dropping off and they're supposed to last ages, especially as I don't use the SD all that often. I expected my initial outlay to be expensive but had thought that once I'd found a unit to suit and a juice I liked, I would be able to save money in the long run - I'm pretty sure we all would if there was to be a 'long run' but that's now looking doubtful. As you so rightly say though ragjoy, from the health point of view things are looking up, for me anyway. Fox

Oh Raggy I'm so sorry, it could be that a retailer has a faulty batch, it does happen. I've been thru hell with my gear since I started and honestly spent a fortune - but when you've got settled on a mod you should find things much more plain sailing.
If you went for a big-battery mod you would find your running costs much lower because the batteries are so cheap. Setup costs are not cheap, but... depends how you're fixed.
I'm sure you can see the possibilities, it's a question of getting good hardware.
HUGS, Raggy!

i want to go for a mod but from reading around it seems they drink juice, well thats ok but the body can only take so much nicotine,i want to sort of smoke very often, but id be O Ding on nicotine i expect. also im fine for money so thats not really a problem, but im tight,to stuff for myself that is,not to others. i think i really need to start again and look at mods, but then i get really confused,im a careful buyer and it does my head in sussing out what mod to get,i get good advice here then google it and someone some where says dont get that one get this and so it goes on. jeez im getting the ache what i want is to lay out then only buy atties (2 per month) then the juice. i really cant be be be flapping around any more with the routine of charging, swapping etc etc. i know i sound like a complete grouch, but i like like things to work, and i dont want to be worrying is it the battery is it the wick is it the attie its doing my head in but im still happy ive stopped with the fags, maybe im just getting to a stage in the process of stopping. anyone got a link to the samaritans forum ragjoy.............

Couldn't agree with you more ragjoy. I plumped for the Screwdriver thinking it would save me messing around charging batteries constantly but am disappointed, firstly because the atties supplied with it don't seem to wick properly with anything other than the 'thicker' whistle type carts and I have dozens of the thinner 'real' DSE901 type. I've now bought an adapter so that I can use my preferred 510 atties but am disappointed with the burned flavour I get unless I constantly top up. (same was the case with the 901 atties). Ideally I would like a battery housing and indestructable atomizer so that all I need to replace would be the batteries - the great-and-good can't ban batteries!!! Yet! I would also like a piece of hardware that doesn't look as though it was knocked up in the potting shed for when I go out to dinner or a party - a girl has to have some standards lololol! Fox

@raggy: i want to go for a mod but from reading around it seems they drink juice, well thats ok but the body can only take so much nicotine,i want to sort of smoke very often, but id be O Ding on nicotine i expect.I don't think so, Raggy. You can easily adjust the nic mgs according to. i get really confused....someone some where says dont get that one get this and so it goes on. jeez...Precisely!!! Worrying is it the battery is it the wick is it the attie its doing my head in Quite im still happy ive stopped with the fags, maybe im just getting to a stage in the processI go through phases too. But some people seem to hit paydirt right from the start, they never struggle with their hardware and they don't chop and change. It seems to me that many of that category are Super Mini vapers (Fish, MM, for example), and someone on ECF said they'd had one atty working for 13 months But I believe that model is "weaker" than the Mini so I've never tried it. With a Screwdriver you only need a supply of 3.6v rechargeable batteries, a twin-charger (or a couple of singles, Chrissie reckons the Nano single charger is better than other, faster chargers), and a supply of atties - and you can get versions for 901, 801, 510, I think. Then there's juice - as I said, you can vary the strength. I said on here a few days ago that I was going to take fresh stock of the mods available - I get sidetracked I've been prepared to put up with a lot of kwap from my e-cigs because it was such an unbelievable miracle that I was off tobacco. foxy: The Janty eGo looks quite nice: www.ivapour.co.uk/janty-ego-set.htmland the Bulli Slim: www.ivapour.co.uk/janty-ego-set.htmland the GG Slim (which I can't quickly find a pic of assembled): www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epages/yxve46fvrnud.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/yxve46fvrnud/Products/GGSL-GImeo is making high-power atties, but I'm not up to speed. scylla

(((Raggy))) I know exactly what you mean about being "a careful buyer". I'm the same. And though I have chopped & changed my hardware a few times I really do feel that they have all been value for money.
I bought my first e-cig in July 08. A super-mini RN4081. I thought it was amazing - & it was! I only ever bought 2 spare atties & batteries & constantly used it up until October 08 when I bought a DSE901.
I preferred the extra vape & the draw I got with the 901 & that is still my fave attie.
Then in Dec 08 I bought a Trog Screwdriver - lol there wasn't really any other mod choice then - well not in the UK. I was very pleased with it to begin with but wasn't too keen on the little wobbly end button that the very first SD's came with. But I used it right up until June 09
By then there where already lots more mods to choose from. I did a lot of research & decided on ther GG Grant. I chose it because I wanted a completely mechanical mod - ie no wires or soldering. I also preferred the placement & design of the brass button. Even better bonus & a must have IMHO is that soon after buying it Imeo did an update for them to make that button lockable. I also bought an adapter for it to try out 510 atties on it - but I still prefer the 901's. I love the Grant still, however, due to recent scares about putting 2 CR2's in tandem, I no longer use it at 6v. But I do still use it every day @ 3.7v & it works as good as the day I bought it.
Then a couple of months ago I bought a Garry Dibley passthru & I also use this every day. It's cheap & cheerful & just works - though I hate the little button on it. (Garry is now making them with a slightly larger button).
Overall though, I don't feel I've wasted my money on any of them.
