I have an HP laptop and everytime I log on I get the following warning........................we have detected that the internal battery is very low ............. I have been into the techy centre and it says there is an internal 601 battery located at the back of the laptop , Could anyone tell me the significance of this battery ie. what it does and how it affects the running of the laptop please

Hi Brambles and thank you for the link and the reply. Is it something that I could replace or would it need to be done by a professional do you think

I would imagine it is just the large battery that you can eject from under the laptop. You can do this yourself in about 5 seconds, once you have a new one

I believe it is refering to the big battery that powers the laptop when it is not plugged in. You can find the HP battery test application hereIf the battery is 'borked', you can easily replace it yourself - there will be a catch or two underneath to release it. It's a long black thing on the underside of the laptop. You just need to get hold of the right battery at the right price.

As above, look for a knurled part on the bottom of the laptop, it should be spring loaded, this will eject the battery, then put the model number of the battery into ebay and order a new one, use a UK seller and then replace your old one, should be as good as new. Battery should be around the £14 mark. Hope this helps.

So it makes sense now it actually is just the cmos battery. If it is then it will be far cheaper to replace. £ or 2. p.s. A primary battery is the term used for non rechargeable batteries.
