Hallo....
I think I'm going to try recoil/wick my own gear rather then buy some new heads, I'm just confused about which wire to try though :S
Would .2 nichrome be a good place to start? The clearos i use are a Mini Nova, Evod and V3 rebuildable. I quite happy to stay on silica wick for now...I just have no idea what wire thickness to get! 2.4 ohms would be what I'm aiming for.
I've watched a few vids and read a few guides, and noticed they vary slightly. I saw one guide where he suggested doubling up, or wrapping the wire around itself at the +/- parts....is this to stop the wire heating up there and making sure it only glows at the actual wick? I also saw another guide where they used a combination of resistance and no resistance wire. Again....is that for the same effect, just done differently.

0.2 is a good place to start, at 4 or 5 wraps. Joining res / no res is really only appropriate for certain atties like he Penelope and Oddy, and not necessary for novas. I'd keep it simple to start with, don't bother with twisted tails and fancy configurations.

If you are wanting 2.4 ohm coils then 0.16 dia wire would be better and will need 5 or 6 wraps.

I'd agree with Brambles If you want 2.4 ohms you'd probably be best to start with 0.16 Nichrome given the space you've got to work in - it has a higher resistance/m than the 0.2 so you use fewer wraps to get the resistance you want. 0.2 Kanthal is about half way between the 0.16 and 0.20 Nichrome in resistance/m so that would probably be OK as well. On the other hand, you might find that more wraps (if you can fit them in) improves the flavour for you so worth experimenting a bit

How come .16 gives more resistance then .2? Is it because the wire isn't thick enough to carry as much current? I was thinking more wraps would be better too...more coil to liquid ratio? Like surface area. Interesting!
Thanks guys... One more thing..should I be concerned about kanthol vs nichrome flavour or will either be better then the stock coils?

Kanthal*
(Sorry, I can't edit on the mobile site)
Just thinking too...the wraps can't touch can they? Its weird, as I'm sure my current V3 coils are touching each other.

i use .2 kanthal on my nova / v3 its fine think its around 5/6 raps its not hard at all once you done one also use it on my aga t ss mesh its a good allrounder if you ask me it can be twisted to drop the ohms so fewer coils and yes i do get a taist from it but only on ss mesh not on silicon wick which wick size you optiong for ? i went for 2 mm

I will probably go for 2mm as at a guess..I think that's what my nova uses. Slim enough to use a 3/4 strands in the nova and not too thick for a single strand in the evod too.

2mm wick is a good "all rounder". If you can get 3mm in a head that can be better.

Right, I'm going to take the plunge and order some gear from here www.stealthvape.co.uk/rebuildable-supplies I'm going to get some .16 and .2 nicochrome, 2mm and 3mm wick....and I think I may get some new mesh too. Or is that going overboard? I don't know whether to get 2 or 3 mm mesh though to be honest! Would 3 be the best choice?

Stealth vape do a selection card so you can get all the diameters of either kanthal or nichrome, or both. Really handy for working out which works for you. And not badly priced. I'm not a fan of their wick however, much prefer cloud9

Sorry if I'm being thick, but following your link, the mesh comes in #300/#400/#500, which is the weave. I cant see it in mm as you put ???
