I have traced, with the help of robby and some questioning of markm (thanks guys), the fault with my Vamo. The top caps on the Stainless Steel, mine atleast, are glued on. I have had to scrape away all the glue in order to make a good connection, but obviously now the cap needs to fixed back on. Can anyone suggest a conductive epoxy or something like that, suitable for stainless steel. I have found some "Hard as Steel" and other names, but none of them say whether they are conductive or not. Thanks Mono

Hook some of your wicking wire over the end of the tube then tap the head back on,

"hard as steel" as far as I can remember is a good epoxy but NOT conductive so you did right not getting that. uk.rs-online.com as some conductive epoxy but it's expensive especially if only for one use.

Hook some of your wicking wire over the end of the tube then tap the head back on, Tried that It cuts it off. Also tried copper wire, tin foil, and crossing my fingers The top cap is a very smooth fit, but the connection was being blocked by the glue.

I don't know the bit you are talking about on the vamo, but I think I would just use a couple of dabs of superglue and that should leave plenty of bare metal for conduction of the power.

I've got some "Magic Mender for Steel" from about 1847 - well, it has a hand-written price ticket on it "81p" - actually, the packaging looks to be late-60s, early-70s.
It tells you how good and strong this stuff is, but "Not an electrical conductor. Will not withstand direct flame"

If its working just but a carbon wrap to hide all the scratches. that should hold it all together.
