Had sent a email to Emma Reynolds MP but had not recieved a reply but found out on friday when I had got home from work that she was holding a open surgery that afternoon so grabbed a copy of the email I had sent plus a copy of the ECCITA handout, a couple of bottles of juice {24mg and 36mg fully compliant) and a selection of mods plus a lookylikey for comparison and headed off. At the meeting she said she had not recieved a email so gave her the copy and handout. She said that she had not heard of the proposed ban or regulation. I told her I did not see it as a method of quitting but for recriational use as a way of harm reduction and was mainly concerned about the limits they want to impose on the liquid and the medicinalization of anything above saying it would render ecigs useless, comparing the 50ml bottle of 36mg with the carto from the lookylikey.Showed her the mods saying they look nothing like a fag, ego, zmax, evic, drawtube and a touchwood (she particularly liked the look and feel of the touchwood with gold plated rebuildable dripping atty and gold driptip). She said that the banning/regulating did not make sense if it was helping me stay off the tobacco and that she would look into it and consult with her colleagues. This is where I need help, I said (off the cuff something I had seen in a post on one of the forums, think it was this one) that there was more nicotine in a marlboro cig than in a cart of liquid that I use. She asked me to send her some info on that so she could tie it all in but now 2 days of trawling cannot find it. Also in a recent twitterbomb one said '48mg strength e-liquid matches the strength of one single Marlboro when used for five mins. 2ml will last a day' I thought maybe someone could point me in the right direction regarding info to back it up. Meeting was going well and wish I had not said it. Have to say I had a faceplant moment saturday night when it dawned on me who her colleagues where, none other than Glenis Willmott and Linda McAvan. Never registererd at the time DOH Hope someone can help , brain and eyes getting frazzeled

robdelmar OK this is the way I understand it & I stand to be corrected. The mg figures that we use to determine the strength of our eliquid is based on tobacco industry figures of how much nicotine is in a pack of ciggies, so 18mg is the average for most brands of ciggies, but if you look at a pack it will tell you on there, unlike loose baccy the MG on a pack is the nicotine strength not the weight of tobacco. The 18mg actually equates to a percentage of 1.8% nic as it's 18mg in a 1000mg of base liquid, so if you have 3ml of 18mg liqiud in a tank only 1.8% of that, 0.054ml is nicotine, but I think this would be the same for ciggies, so 1.8% of a standard cig is nicotine . . . . which I guess doesn't help you any Don't know where that twitterbomb info came from but I don't think it's particulary accurate, but a long time since I looked at a pack of ciggies & I almost certainly never looked at info like that. Perhaps you could use that in your info, that as vapers we are far more aware of what we are inhaling then we ever were as smokers. But maybe you could use the NRT's as a comparison, the strength of the lozenge directly equates to the amount of nicotine in it, so 1.5 lozenges contain 1.5mg nicotine per lozenge & likewise for the disgusting spray, gum etc, far higher levels then most of us regularly use & far easier (if you can ignore the taste) to overdose. Because they are classed as medicine the packs do not have to contain any particular warnings in the way our liqiud does & they are freely avaliable in most large supermarkets, even worse they can be used by children aged 12 & over . . show me an eliqiud vendor that would knowing sell anything to a minor under 18. I'm sure there is info on the ECITA site of young kids overdosing after being given nic gum at school. So if big Pharma is going to be allowed to continue to sell their products at these levels & ciggies will still be freely avaliable how is that justifiable ??? Sorry probably not much help but it might have given you some pointers, maybe you could try hifistud he seems very switched on re nic levels.
