I seriously do not drink alcohol, Aldo I try to remember to change the "emergency" water in the bottles but I haven't done it for several months. In my own mind I am confident that boiled water will not be harmful - but I am angry with Thames Water for not being able to offer their customers (whom they have deprived of water) precise and categorical info on stored water safety > Also, worst of all, a recorded voice asked me to speak my postcode, and no matter how many times I repeated it, very clearly, the system couldn't understand me - in the end I told it to Eff Off - and it said "Thank you" I assure you, I have very clear speech. scylla

I'm pretty sure you can drink it with no fear if you boil it hun! Perhaps you could do some tea in order to avoid drinking it hot on it's own, or having to wait for it to cool?! ((Scylla))

Seriously though, if you can get to an outdoor shop buy some water prufication tablets to keep in the cupboard - between them and boiling you can kill of any bacteria and only the really noxious chemicals would be an issue and they shouldn't get near the water in the first place. Good Luck in your time of drought !

Scyl, you drink tap water from the Thames and you are worried about getting sick from bottled water ?? On a serious note, boiling the water for about 20 minutes should make it potable.

Eeep, this happened to us not long ago. I had to go to my dads with a load of empty bottles as he was the only person I knew who had water! Stupid builders went through the main water line and over half the town was waterless.
Hope yours gets sorted soon xxx

It came back on and then went off again this morning - found out it was the downstairs flat's (elderly) tank had been finished off by gravel released when the water was fixed last night. Well, that's what the plumber said Jerry, my bottled water is water from the Thames. I do not shell out good money on water with fancy labels, it's a racket > scylla

LOL, Jess. Not too many people like him. I don't watch American Idol, but I believe that he is or was a judge on that show.
