Menthol strength help please

Hi, so after seeing friends using e-cigs, I've decided to 'bite the bullet' so to speak. Not so much because I want to give up cigarettes but I'd like to have an e-cig for when I'm around non-smoking friends and family members. Who knows, maybe I will end up giving up all together.

Anyway, after reading bits on here, I've decided to go for the Riva 1100 kit and Vape Escape HS menthol. At the moment I smoke cutters choice with menthol tips, about 10-12 a day (more if I'm out). I'm really confused with which strength I should go for though. I'm leaning towards the medium strength (18mg) but does anyone have any suggestions?

18mg is a good starting point, I'd suggest getting one higher and one lower too, maybe try out a couple of other flavours whilst you're at it. Then you can see what suits you best. I smoked menthol, now I love dessert and fruit types - have some fun exploring!

I smoked cutters or amber, sometimes GV. 12 minimum - 15 average per day. I'd recommend 18mg liquid at least, maybe even more.
t.b.h. I should have started on 24mg, the early days were tough.
Then again, I was trying to quit from the first day I replaced my E-Lites with something that actually worked.

I recommend getting a few different flavours.

Just because you smoked menthol it doesn't mean you will like menthol eliquid and there is nothing worse than getting new kit and then not enjoying your vape because you don't like the taste.

I'd also +1 to Pezz and Jen's suggestion on getting a few flavours in a sample size in a couple of stengths . . . you might be amazed at the ones you find to your taste, that you would never have dreamt of smoking. And it's handy to have a couple of strengths as you may find your vaping/nicotine needs vary through the day.

to a great forum, good choice of kit, all the advice above is great, i started off on 18mg....i used 2 smoke drum 25 a day......its nearly a year since i stopped, and i have managed to drop down 2 10mg

I would definitely go for a few samples, you can never tell which will be the one. I HATED menthol cigs with a passion...loved anything strawberry,..now menthol is my main vape and I hate any vape that has strawberry in it.

But there are lots of nice flavours around

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. I think I will order (as recommended) a variety of flavours and maybe a couple of different strengths. I was just a bit worried cause I tried an e-cig before and it was REALLY harsh and made me cough loads, and I can't smoke full strength non-menthol real cigs (as opposed to roll-ups) as I find them too strong. Sounds like 18mg should be ok.

Berry cool sounds very interesting, think I'll def be buying some of that :-))

I've been vaping for 2 years. I smoked menthol cigarettes so naturally went for menthol ejuice. I'm now trying to wean myself off on to fruity and sweet flavours....with some success. My all day vape is still menthol though because I just love the fresh, clean taste. HS Menthol is my favourite at 18mg. I tried HS Menthol Sensation and it's too strong for me even at a lower mg. Fruity menthols work well and at the moment I'm trying an 'Orange Frost' from vape-it.
Please don't do what I did and spend a fortune on juices that you might not like in 10ml bottles. It's a waste. Try Smoke Rainbow www.smokerainbow.com/ and get a load of really cheap 1ml samples to see what you like and then go for bigger bottles. Worked for me because I didn't have a clue what I wanted. I've since bought large bottles of GVC, Raspberry Raffles, Mint Choc Chip and loads of others that I wouldn't have even thought of before.
