Quite why they don't look at food standards - to me its the obvious choice for regulations. We already have adequate consumer protection on the battery side of the equation, I would like to see EHOs looking after supervising juice supplies. Only a few extra rules would need to be amended for them to cover all the human consumption safety issues.
The best part is a much more realistic approach to trace elements - did you know there is an acceptable level of rat faeces in most food?

so, are we supposed to vape flavourless juice or will we still be allowed tobacco flavour? I'll take flavourless juice over 4mg/ml. There's always flavouring available....not that it's 100% ideal. I like my shop-bought liquids.

I'm sure the issue of flavourings can be argued for many months and all the time putting back any implementation date
This will also give the Greek Doctor and other Vaping organisations more time to collate data and do more market research.
Once the new market research is available a new round of arguments against the Directive can be started etc etc
Meanwhile the Vaping community will be growing faster each month.
I think that the EU was too slow on the uptake and by allowing the Vaping community to grow to the level it has they will continually be fighting a losing battle against us. I would imagine that if they do manage to get the new amendments agreed, in the 36 months they are allowing for full implementation a whole new directive will be tabled.
It's unfortunate that a few uninformed people in high places can cost an industry and it's consumers so much money and wasted time.

It's unfortunate that a few uninformed people in high places can cost an industry and it's consumers so much money and wasted time. Very true. The thing with vaping is it's exactly what a lot of the millions of smokers want, it's got no downsides and it's got very compelling reasons to continue. Self preservation and harm reduction is quite a powerful human personal goal With it being pretty much life and death for the users, it's not going to just go away and wane in popularity and will no doubt reach the point (if it hasn't already) that it can't be stopped. The question is how long will it be before the powers that be look like the "bad guys" by trying to slow or stop something that could well be considered one of the most important discoveries for saving lives in decades. Their plan will backfire on them eventually.
