www.eccauk.org/images/pdf/download-1368732461351.docLooks like they are going to move forward as a consumer product, but with added measures, mainly no flavourings, who knows what that means? It will be interesting if they will back down any further and remove it from the TPD altogether!

There is still plenty to fight over, the warnings is irrelevant but the flavourings is a big issue, and I'm no chemist, nor do I know what tests are in place already, but it still seems heavily regulated, and most importantly still part of the TPD. If we can get it out of the TPD then that would be EPIC, but still won't be completely over, and lets not forget about the MHRA!

MHRA are our biggest threat at the moment, they are not waiting for Brussels as everyone expected. Not long to wait though, in theory.

I'm just wondering how she plans to stop us adding our own flavourings, on the face of it that's just silly. Two pack e juice?

Maybe it's just the fact it can't be sold with flavourings, now will they be able to sell flavourings at the same time? Or will it be a case of, leave the shop and come back in again, or even worse 2 separate orders, hopefully we won't have to pay 2 lots of postage too.

But it's a step, a huge step in the right direction. Maybe they are starting to see sense in that e-cigs can play a huge role in the Reduction of Tobacco Harm

I've mentioned this before but I will mention it here too: We are in a very dangerous position when these people have such an influence over our lives, a lot of these people have absolutely no idea about e-cigarettes judging by what some of them say. Now the average person on the street if they do not know much about something they will say so, have you noticed that is not the same with most politicians? They will carry on as if they know all about something when they clearly don't. Instead of actually putting there hands up and saying "I'm sorry, I don't know enough about that to make a judgement" they will just make s**t up as they go along. This is what worries me most about these people, as well as how much power they seem to have over millions of people, and their lifestyle choices. There has been some progress but we are not out of the woods by a long way yet.

@totaliquidtony. I have to agree with what you say. One problem we have, is that only about 20% of people smoke. That percentage is even less among people from higher income groups. So few MPs or MEPs have ever smoked. Therefore they can not speak about smoking from a personal experience. I was going to say that it would be like taking sexual advice from a priest. But having thought about it, that is not a good comparison.
Flavours are of enormous importance for several reasons. An e juice without flavour would be very bland and harsh. It would put people off from the first drag. Equally important is the effect it would have in Sweden. Sweden refused to join the EU unless they were allowed to continue to use SNUS, their favourite smokeless tobacco product. Without flavour, snus would be virtually unusable. So this is just a back door ban on snus.

I can only think McAven is determined to ruin people's day no matter what. Now she knows the medicines ban is a non-starter she's moved the goalposts to something that will be as bad as medicines legislation but harder to use a legal defense against her enjoyment assassination and personal vendetta against vapers. I think she got her wrist slapped so is throwing her toys out of the pram.
Luckily the flavouring ban if they manage to get it through is easier for us to get round than a nicotine ban as they can't ban food flavourings heheh (although we've now got another battle to wage against her and her crusaders.) We won this one and will fight the next and the next...
I also know this isn't all her doing but as spokesman and person in charge she get's the brunt of my frustration and rage at the killjoy zealots in the committee.

On the plus side in that document there is nothing in the justification about flavours. I'm sure they'll trot out the "Think of the children" defence that's used to ban anything that might constitute enjoyment.
Did McAven ever work for the Daily Fail?
