We don't have a final release date yet -- that may come at E3 2013 in June -- but the smart money is on somewhere between September and December 2013.

I expect it will be released in time for Christmas and there will be shortages.
I found the 360 a mahoosive disappointment and have hardly ever used it (only used it once for gaming for about 10 minutes.) the UI is horrible, the hardware was slow.
The xbox one appeals to me a little more as a media centre which my PC+PS3 is currently doing.

For the foreseeable future I'll stick with the PC for games and the PS3 for Bluray and media streaming to the TV.

Once the price drops on the One/ PS4 end of next year I might consider them as a new media centre.

I shall wait until the dust has settled, about a year should do it. Then work out if I'm going to get something from it, that I can't get from my 360. Doubt it for spending that much money.

What they weren't very clear about is how exactly it integrates with subscription tv like sky and virgin in terms of the 'all in one', surely you'd still have to have a sky box. I think I'd definitely wait til the end of next year for a price drop, more games and for any bugs to be fixed.
