DID CLONE & S/S WIRE PROBLEMS

Ok,
So i rebuilt the did with s/s wire 2mm put a mesh cap at the top & recoiled with 6 turns (comes out on vamo at 2.4ohms) oxidised all parts & with out the did top cone on it vapes like a train but when i put it back on to vape it it very low on smoke & tastes weak.
The draw was always tight so i opened the air hole to 1.5mm still no good i always line up the hole with the wick but i am running out of idea's, can anyone help?

ia the top cap pushing down on the coil? what res does your vamo read with the cap on?

It reads 2.4 I can't understand it as its so good without the top on.

Just a couple of questions to make sure.

With the drip tip off does the atty sound the same as regards firing as with the top off ?
Are you using a metal drip tip ?

Have had instances of where the metal drip trip intrudes too far into the chamber shorting things out.
