Hi All. 510 connector threads on my Drawtube now completely "knackered", having to use 510-ego stainless adapter for it to work, at all. Has anyone, modded theirs to overcome this problem with a permanent `fix`. Love this mod in 18350 mode, especially when using low ohms atty`s attached. Thanks in advance for your help. jeffc

I did a little dremel work so my nautilus/terminator sits flush. It is hidden, so not much finish or polish on it. But after two broken terminator/nautilus bases, I had to do something. Good luck I

Get your grinding paste out that could use a shine!

Have you tried a small strip of aluminium foil on the threads?

maccafan nice to see your posts again. (I`ve missed your expertise ) Will try that tip, and also to try some epoxy metal paste to build up threads and re-thread whilst semi-hard using an old `carto`, to reform full threads hopefully. ( raid2506) jeffc

The threads went on my vamo (as they do), So what I did is stripped the top cap off drilled it out to 6mm I think it was and press fitted a top threaded part out of an old skycig battery into it soldered it all back up again and bobs your uncle, Works like a charm now and has a better 510 connector to boot. Also made sure the connector sat lower in the head than the standard one and have got rid of that annoying gap between head and gennie. Looks much better.

Metal epoxy and re-threading should work. But an expensive fix if you are buying the taps and tap holder. I would just buy anther one and use the parts as spares. They're hardly £30.00 these days.
The threads do not need be conductive so long as the bottom of the atty you put on it touches the base for ground.

Hi Maccafan,
I haven't seen a single 510 atty where the lead edge of the -v extends down past the +v centre pin in the connector and can ground?
A few are proud by about 0.5mm but nowhere near long enough.
I would be interested to see one if you can point me in the right direction?
Having the threaded area conductive ensures maximum contact with the -v area on both the atty and connector and is good form if nothing else.

I think you misunderstood what I said..Here's a picture. No need for threads to be conductive.

Aaahhhhhhhh, see I work much better with the crayola version of a description. Thanks for the clarificaton I didn't know he had one of those atties! Assumed that there would be no good contact with the design of the top cap.

All attys, even cartos will have a flat surface that can rest against the top cap of the mod. You can always achieve hard contact between the atty base flat and the top cap because the posi pin is adjustable.. Even the ody V1 and the terminator where a gap is visible on the outer edges, the raised portion is making substantial contact with the mod top cap..The direction of flow of electrons is from:
Battery posi-->Top cap posi-->Atty posi-->Posi end of the coil-->negi end of the coil-->Atty ground which includes the flat of the atty base-->top cap-> mod body--> switch-> battery negi.

Ok, I'm not going to drag down Jeffc's thread and Riva knows I don't want to cross swords with anybody else on this wonderful forum.
I would however like to point out that it's bad form to use conventional flow notation when discussing electronic principles, although wholly accepted as standard by engineers for the purposes of circuit design and analysis.
For anybody interested in mods or basic electronics stick with electricity moving from +v to -v, it's simple, it makes no difference and it works.
But to clarify a misleading point: The flow of electrons in a circuit is always from the negative pole to the positive, yet another instance of physics messing with common sense.

It's what I was taught at school many moons ago about the flow of electrons..There is a lot of stuff that has changed subsequently with further research.
I for one am glad I posted that because it prompted me to learn something new.
