Loving the sun here, but being naturally pale blue in the skin department, had to slather on shedloads of Factor 30 this morning, and I now smell like a coconut It's been a productive day out in the sun though - picked about 4 pints of mayflowers (hawthorn blossoms) for yet more home wine making, plus got the previously steeped (yes, it's a brewing term too!) gorse wine into a demi-john, where it's bubbling away happily, then remembered we have about 45 bottles of cider I made last year, so opened one of those - and wow, it's matured nicely and has a massive head on it Had to decant the rose petal and orange blossom remnants out of demi johns into bottles, so those are cooling in the fridge for consumption this evening. Oh, and I also mixed three more juices today - a lime zinger/lychee , a doppio espresso/coffee, and a parma violet. All in all, a productive day, and steak for dinner to look forward to Vaping home made lemon meringue pie - feels very summery! I now have 3 protanks - really like them

Ooo, Darkginger, you have inspired me! I must mix up some summer juices tonight, even think I have an orange blossom concentrate somewhere

Been out all afternoon in the sun with no sunblock. I have come home slightly brown but I'm slathering on loads of after-sun or I'll be back to white rather too quickly (moisturising agents seem to lock the colour in a bit).
I once spent two weeks in Italy in August and came home white despite wandering around all day in the sun. It's the wind action (dries the skin slightly) that tends to tan me rather than just sun alone.

I got very badly sunburnt in South Africa years ago and to take the sting out the chemist told me to mix Johnston's Baby Oil half in half with White Vinegar.
This I did. You shake the bottle well because the two separate in the bottle. Apply liberally and although you stink like a Fish & Chip Shop, it really does work.

Lavender essential oil is really good for burns, wonder if it works for sunburn too?

Hi lobbydosser.
When I was a child in Wales, we kids all used vinegar / olive oil, to enable us to stay for hours in the sun.
No burning, fantastic tans, but no one would come near us on the beach.
Factor 20, Factor 50 what a load of `hog wash` unless you are a baby or a `ginger`.
Happy days ; Childhood.

Jane Jo you can use aloe Vera for the sunburn. When I was in Barbados the locals would snap off leaves and squeeze the sticky juice out to rub on it. They also used it in Australia
