What with all the gloomy news today, I just had a thought (I do that sometimes) The other day we were discussing the explosion of SHisha "pens" on eBay and the fact that Ecigs and PVs are being sold on there under the e shisha banner. With this in mind, how will the shisha trade be affected by today's MHRA decisions? I am presuming it wouldn't apply if their products are nicotine free? This being the case, it might be a way of selling our devices in the future without them banning them. O r am I just being way too optimistic?

I don't think the problem will be the devices, or batteries or pg/vg or flavouring - just the nic.
But if the US goes the same way, nobody will be bringing out any new versions of anything.

The simple fact is we don't know, and most likely won't know until the day after the TPD goes through (as it stands). MHRA will want to keep what ever they have in mind, right up until they release their proposal (less time for us to build a case). In theory no, they won't be affected, and from all accounts, in the BBC Radio 4 show the other day, those are exactly what the kids featured were using. It would be virtually impossible to ban the devices themselves. But if they don't allow e-liquid (on its own) then it will be pretty pointless in selling them, unless there is a booming black market for e-liquid. Things will only be made/sold if there is a market for it. The main problem is, that while most on here now, will no doubt still be able to carry on, if it means storing the nic base in a freezer, or buying it "illegally" on the black market. However its the ones that aren't or the ones that won't be vaping in 3 years time, who will have to suffer with under performing look a likes, and worst of all, non-progressing look a likes, as £200,000 to release a new battery is so expense on top of the initial R&D costs. Sorry I'm rambling (again) lol. I shall leave it now for tonight before I work myself up any more lol

Oh I see. Someone on here earlier today was saying something about the devices being affected. I really cannot see how they can legislate PV's like Vamos , MVP's etc etc Google vaporizer and go to shopping tab Argos, Amazon, Tesco's etc sell Vaperizers A humidifier is a vaperizer I had one off them nearly 20 years ago (dunno where I would put mouth piece & need long extension lead while driving ) , my point is Vaperizers have been about for decades in one form or another. My Vamo or any other PV is not an e-cig would be nightmare & legal minefield for them to go after Vaperizers

But matt1988 the shisha flavours don't carry nicotine, so my point was, would they ban them or more to the point CAN they ban them? By their own admission they want ENDS to carry 4mg max nicotine, but the shisha stuff is zero! So how would they justify a ban on them?

Sorry Blownupdolly I went totally off on a tangent. I started off well, and then veered off. Ok scrictly speaking no they won't. Its similar to cannabis, you can have the bulbs, the humidifiers, heaters and even seeds to grow it, but it only becomes illegal when you actually grow it. Now that is an extreme but the point still remains. Unless they have some cleverly devised plan, then no you will be able to buy thrm freely. However without being able to get hold of e-liquid (if they ban that and only allow devices containing nicotine) then people won't sell it, becuase there won't be a market for it. But the big question is, will they allow flavourless nic juice. If so then great, we can get plain nic juice, add flavour to it, and use is on our e-shisha devices

On my reading of it they won't allow flavourless nic juice (of usable strength) unless some kind soul does the research and gets it registered as a medical product, which seems pretty unlikely.
I don't know how hard they will try to stop us importing it though.

No but I was thinking all nic is the same, so ok they will have 4 strengths 36, 24, 18 and 10. Now yes thats going to be £800, 000 to go through the hoops, but majority are in that posistion to be able to do it.
But I'm pretty confident that there will be a way, theres always a way. But I really doubt it will come to that!

It's a terrible decision for smokers too. I'm guessing cigarettes will only be available to buy at a pharmacy too? Yeah right!
Sounds like the small manufacturers/sellers need to rebrand quickly to shisha or vapouriser, as per my rant the other day. Just drop this whole ecig branding completely.

Been saying this for months I also think vendors who have the ECIG word in the title of their business name should rethink. Might cost a bit of money, but might just save them a lot of hassle long term.
