EvIc or SVD? Decisions, decisions...

Hi all, after my vamo bit the dust, I bought an itaste mvp, which is a cracking device, but i have no VV whilst its taking its sweet time to charge every couple of days! So, I'm currently trying to decide which shiny to get to supplement its downtime or even take top spot!

I was initially going to grab a provari, but finances aren't allowing a new one at present, so settled on getting either an evic or an SVD, but - which one??

Ideally I am going to be using the 18650s I already have as my 18350s are used in my daytime mod - this is for at home

Help me decide

(they will be bought at fasttech as well, so I don't mind waiting for one!)

Hesta I posted the same query and after the feedback, I think the SVD won on a split decision. have a SVD arriving soon but would love to own both. I think this is the rematch SVD versus Evic.

Hehe, well I'm leaning more towards the SVD already, I think I read through your thread, but as fast as things are always moving in the vaping world I thought it would be worth asking again, along with more people having one of them as well. Also, there is the thought that I could just wait and get a provari, I tried to buy the mini listed in the classies recently, but forgot about the extension cap, and decided against it, oopsie!

Yes things do move quickly. I be looking forward to your feedback. I know Romelee swears by his Evic and Robby swears by the SVD. If money was no issue I would of bought a Provari without doubt. that's it with everything, there's always a add on to buy, take the Evic for example, I believe you have to buy other tubes to make it more sturdier and obviously the tiny black 18350's tubes which are hard to come by. At this rate i be declaring bankruptcy

Well, I've never owned an evic , but to me it would depend upon what you want to put on top of it and what weight you're comfortable with. The SVD is a great balancer for the weight of RBA's, which always felt top heavy on my other mods. I hear the evic's a pretty light device, so maybe would suit the carto/clearos better? The SVD oozes quality though.....

Think it depends on your vaping style.

If you are more techy then the Evic has the option to tweak your vape to the nth degree and there are all sorts of tubes and caps to modify. If I wasn't saving for a Kayfun it would be on my shopping list.

The SVD is good straight out of the box and at Fasttech prices it's a bargain.


As you already have your eye on a Provari I'd say the SVD is the way to go.

My eVic lost it's head - and despite a gallant repair job by Warlord - hasn't been the same since - so i'd go with the SVD if tis likely to get any rough handling

The eVic. The biggest thing for me (at the moment) is I can track exactly how much I vape. It's not simply a puff counter, but with the auto feature you can set it to a set time. Mine is 3.5 secs I know many people vape longer. You can also track how many seconds of vape time you use in a day too. (But I don't think the time tracks on the PC, I could be wrong(next update perhaps?))

What I found is I was having 300+ vapes a day. Since I have had a set timer (3 days) it's been 200. So I was obviously having shorter puffs more often sometimes.

Now it may not be a useful tool for you personally, but making sure I'm not increasing my nic intake, (with a view to lower it) it's very easy to know exactly how much you are using it.

The updatable firmware is also an added bonus, along with it looks gorgeous (in white ). But then I am biased as its my first mod, but I honestly don't think I need anything else, unless by a miracle I can afford/need a Provari.

The only downside (doesn't apply to me) is that it only goes up to 5v, but I only go up to 4.5 anyway. Oh I also like that you can see exactly what you want on the screen. Time/date, ohms/volts or puff counter and battery %, puff per day or amount of time vaped (in seconds), and of course the volts/watts on the main section. And with the 3400mAh battery I get 3 days use out of it

But I will say again, this is probably a rather biased review, and therefore pointless lol

SVD all the way, I owned an eVc, lasted a few days and sold it.
Been using my SVD for a few months now and love it

SVD would get my vote as well, waiting on one myself . . . but if it's anything like the Tzmax, it will be great. The telescopic function swings it for me.

Although the Evic has many fans, but the technical aspect of it doesn't appeal to me.

Going on what has been said I think I will go for the SVD, it being more robust is more important to me than extra features - also the telescopic aspect makes battery selection much easier. Goin to order in a week or so I think, just to give extra thinking time

I was in the same position a few weeks back, but after weighing up the pros and cons of each, the Evic came out on top.

Here's a few things that made up my mind;

- I wanted something as compact as possible whilst keeping functionality (SVD in 18650 mode is 15mm longer than the Evic)
- Screen on the SVD isn't naturally the right way up when you hold it
- Prefer seperate tubes as opposed to telescopic system (I have been using 18650s since it arrived and so have felt no need for adjustability)
- Evic menu system seems easier to operate as a whole (I have played with both devices)
- Evic is easily customisable with coloured tubes etc.. (should that take your fancy)
- SVD felt too big and heavy once the iClear30 was on top, felt like I was ready to hit someone with it! (Some would say that this means better build quality, but I've had no issues with threads etc so far)
- Evic is prettier (IMO)
- RVW is a definite game changer for me.. 3 profiles for three juices, can set wattage high to warm coil and then lower wattage to vape with no messing around
- The fact that the evic can be charged from usb.. Just in case the charger goes t*ts up!

The only thing I wasn't sure of was the 5v/11w limit of the Evic. I've used the full 5v twice now, not to vape, but to try and de-gunk the coils when I've refilled the RSST.. Maximum wattage I've used for vaping is 9.5w, and anything above that has just led to a burnt taste...

The fact that updates are being rolled out every so often is also a nice touch... I've not really used the puff counter apart from when I wanted to compare two different capacity batteries, but I can see how it might be useful to some users..

Yes, If I go out, I'm worried that I may drop it and damage the screen, but I'd be the same with any device.. That's why I ted to take the ego's when I go shopping!! (Evic sits in door pocket waiting for me to return to the car though!!)

The other thing that won me over was the fact that you can buy the Evic ready to operate from ~£55 in the UK... SVD kit from UK is ~£80 + batteries and charger. Obviously buying from overseas evens them up though..

Swings and roundabouts depending on opinions, but Evic wins hands down for me

Couple of points

today I found matching atomizers for evic  , looks like evic will be supported by joyetech for a while

second is I have wondered for a while , is the provari the dogs danglies and if so why ? I have never seen a provari in the flesh so to speak but after all its just batteries & wire , would love to try one just to see but for the life of me I cannot see why they command such high prices. Is it snobbery (like designer clothes ) plus I really cannoy say I am took by the look of them.
