I'm sure there is a good reason but if you say have a box mod with a 14500 battery why can't you charge it via the connector on the mod from the mains or USB the same way if you were charging a 510 or Riva? Why do you have to use an external bettery charger?

Well, that and the circuit won't be fused in the same way it would be with a dedicated battery charger!
