Quick question - how can you tell when a rebuildable clearomizer needs a new wick (Vision V3) please? Will it stop working altogether, or does it just become increasingly difficult to get any sort of drag from it?

Basically it won't perform as it should and did, vapour will tail off, harder to draw, taste weird/burnt/etc, i've only ever had one completely die on me. Have you given it a clean out and a dry burn? after so long the coils/wicks get all gunked up and cause the same things as above? Clearos all have different lifespans, when i used to use Vision Ce5s they'd last approx a month, my iclear 16s original heads are still going strong after 4 1/2 months they're cleaned and dry burned every week and they're still as good as new.

As Cheralynn says, funky taste/difficult draw are common signs TOAS . . . you can give the heads an overnight soak in a denture tablet solution, then a good rinse and leave to dry. This will help revive them a little, but ultimately they are disposable and don't last forever.

I get all of 5-6 days from a V3. iclears seem immune to gunk. took one out yesterday after two months and it's almost as new. might put it back in when I return to that flavour.

Thanks everyone - what's a dry burn by the way? Heating a coil with no eliquid on it TOAS burns off accumulated gunk apparently . . . can't be doing with the palaver myself, but some vapers enjoy this part of the ritual. I'd rather just have a new coil/head/whatever. We're all different.

I dry burn my atomizer coils on V3s and Vivi Novas. It's the only type I bother with. iClears don't seem to need it......dry-burning after 4 months of use is kind of cheap-skate.... Evods? Nah....most BCCs last weeks anyway.
V3 and Novas can be gunked up in less than 48 hours....makes dry-burning worth a shot.

Thanks Djs - so do you just let the clearo empty then keep your finger on the battery button to get a burn? How long for?

thingonaswing - after cleaning the Nova/clearo, refit the atomiser (atty) head but remove the silicone cap on top. Fire the battery in 3 second pulses and the head will produce a lot of 'smoke' and a nasty aroma. Eventually (20-30 seconds depending on the length of time the atty head has been in use and the type of juice - sweet/dark juices tend to gunk up a head more quickly), you will see the coil begin to glow red. Nearly there. Another couple of quick blasts and you are good to go. Some people rinse the head after dry burning, but personally I don't bother. Now that I recoil my heads myself, I tend not to bother so much with the dry burn, as it's just as quick to bang a new wick and coil on and vape like new! Hope this helps Andy
