I'm still looking for a coffee machine. I've decided against a bean to cup as they are too expensive and also against anything with an integrated coffee grinder as they are simply not good enough and don't grind fine enough. I will buy a coffee grinder separately.
So my budget is £70 - £100 and preferably i'd like to get something that uses ground or pods, but not just pods. Hoping you lot can share some of your coffee machine buying experience or recommendations.
Cheers,
MP.

I've had a lot of coffee machines, but the one that has been used most constantly and the longest is the Tassimo. Probably because it's just so easy! It's not cheap and not particularly environmentally friendly what with all that plastic (I think Nespresso pods are aluminium and can at least be recycled), but we use it every day. Doesn't do anything else but pods though

+1 for the Tassimo. Just got one from a Costa offer for £30. On the Tassimo website, the discovery pack is £28 for 112 drinks (16 earl grey tea ) Jen the pods can be recycled at www.terracycle.co.uk/en-UK/
EDIT: Should have said, my parents have the expensive Nespresso and my sister has a Dolche Gusto - I think the Tassimo makes better beverages than both of them.

For me, it has to be Nespresso. Have been using them for 8 years or more. Order the pods on line before 2pm and they normally arrive the next day. Pods cost £58 for 200 (29p per pod) with free delivery and they will pick up your used pods for recycling. In my opinion, the coffee is as good as any coffee shop.......but it only does pods.

I don't like the pod type machines. Just don't taste right to me at all, the taste balance is usually not right with the crema. I haven't owned an espresso machine for a while but the krupps and delonghi machines seem good but alas they are mostly higher than your budget. A decent machine for espresso costs over your budget alone, let alone having filter coffee function as well.
At the moment I just have a normal filter coffee machine and buy decent coffee, alas only pre ground currently but fresh bean is so much better (must get the lid of my electric grinder fixed - or make one).

Ok, so lets skip the pod and expresso functions, what can I get that's good for filter coffee, which is what I drink the most of anyway.

Hi.
I use a morphy richards model that i got from ebay for thirty quid! As long as you get one with a decent ish steam arm you can get good results from even the most budgetty of machines. Its more about a clean machine, freshly ground beans (maplin sell nice adjustable burr grinders cheap) and a well trained barista!!!

I use a swiss gold one cup filter and a grinder. Made thousands of cups of coffee with it, use it at least once a day, can take it fishing or shooting with me. Its cheap but works and won't let you down and is easy to clean. I really rave on about it, has real gold in it too apparently
