Make sure you check the conductivity of the epoxy you are going to use as some have many of the properties of metal but aren't very good electrically.
My preference is for something like 'Arctic' Silver which has great conductivity but is about £12.
Rather than a traditional tap after curing you could try a thin smear of epoxy and then screw an old carto in and out again within the specified set up time, a couple of applications could save a lot of effort.

There's always a way mate, not much that can't be fixed. Was thinking that the 510 connector might punch out, failing that I would probably build up thickness and then tap it to 510 thread (7mm x .5) or drill for a tapped friction fit tube insert. Probably go with brass if the head is stainless steel, shouldn't need to worry about galvanic corrosion for a few years that way. The plastic bit (Dielectric separator) shouldn't give me too many issues as I was a radio engineer for 15 years before becoming an electro-mechanical engineer, so I am quite familiar with them. Anyway PM me if you want me to have a look, won't cost you more than a jiffy bag and postage. Just thought I would say that it is so refreshing to see someone with the knowledge, skill and willingness to help others in this mad throw away society that we have all accepted as the norm. Good on ya mate

Thanks Stewarty, there are many knowledgeable voices on this forum, most wiser than mine when it comes to PV usage and modding.
It must be one of the friendliest most helpful places I have ever (virtually) been.

It must be one of the friendliest most helpful places I have ever (virtually) been. 100% agree, have been on countless forums over the years but always got pis*ed off with the snidy condesending cleeks that formed within the membership who took great pleasure in belittling anyone that didn't have their "Superior" knowledge. Totally love this forum everyone is so helpful and you never get ridiculed for 'blonde posting'
