Hi Peeps. I have cleaned the top brass centre pin. I have cleaned the firing button pin. Drawtube not getting enough power from battery (fully charged) to any atty`s fitted. Bottom spring sitting on peg is chrome plated and 8mm dia tapering up to 10mm dia and 13mm o/length. All hot springs I have are too big, are there smaller hot springs out there ?? Any suggestions apart from `bin it` will be welcomed. Thanks. jeffc

Can anyone tell me where I can buy one.
Thanks.

Have you cleaned the threads?
I thought that the spring was just there to keep tension whilst tightening the body to the battery? Thus hot spring would not be needed?

I need to get a new top cap incorporating the 510 connector. Can anyone tell me where I can buy one. Thanks. jeffc jeffc can't see what could be damaged with top cap as it is just a solid bit of metal with the 510 threading cut down the middle with an insulated screw going up the centre to make the positive contact. The screw in the centre of the top cap is adjustable so it will make contact with the positive contact on your atty much like the centre pin on Ego', Vamo's etc. Unless the screw in the top cap is missing or the insulation damaged there is nothing much else that can go wrong. When I use my drawtube I sometimes need to adjust the centre screw in the top cap to suit the atty I am using as on this mod it is not spring loaded and the length of the centre contact sometimes needs to be adjusted manually, if it is not screwed far enough out it will not make contact with the positive connector on the atty

Hi peeps, thanks for all of your suggestions. Problem is "the 510 thread in the top plate is buggered", all atty`s wobbling about, wont screw down, can actually pull an atty off the cap without unscrewing it. Need a complete top cap, where can I get one ??? Thanks jeffc

Sounds like the thread is knackered. Can't you just pull/drill it out and drop a new one in?
If you are replacing it anyway I can have a look at fixing the old one for you to keep as a spare.

Of course you could always contact the manufacturer and ask if they will replace the top cap?

Not sure if this would work but could you not use something like a couple of the thin soft strands of copper earthing wire from 1.5mm twin and earth cable down the 510 hole and gently screw in a 510 to ego adapter using the wire to take up the slack. If you can manage to jam it in the hole the adapter will give you a new 510 / Ego thread for your atty
Has worked 4 me before with stripped threads but never tried it with an ecig.

Nice gesture mate ... the top cap is one solid piece so nothing to replace unless there was some way to fill the hole with something metalic and redrill and thread it. Get a bit more difficult cause there is thin plastic / nylon shim up the centre to seperate the positive conector from the body so if this won't come out would probably melt if you filled it with anything that required heat .... braising soldering etc

There's always a way mate, not much that can't be fixed. Was thinking that the 510 connector might punch out, failing that I would probably build up thickness and then tap it to 510 thread (7mm x .5) or drill for a tapped friction fit tube insert. Probably go with brass if the head is stainless steel, shouldn't need to worry about galvanic corrosion for a few years that way. The plastic bit (Dielectric separator) shouldn't give me too many issues as I was a radio engineer for 15 years before becoming an electro-mechanical engineer, so I am quite familiar with them. Anyway PM me if you want me to have a look, won't cost you more than a jiffy bag and postage.

Hi peeps. Thank you all for your suggestions. I have acquired some metal epoxy, which I shall reline the `knackered threads`, drill out and retap 7mm x 0.5mm, to accept the 510 connections on the atty`s. My pal tells me that this metal epoxy sets hard, and is like having new steel to work with. I shall try this, if unsuccessful shall be in contact with raid2506 to take up his generous offer. Thanks again everyone. "love this forum`. jeffc
