E-Cigs got double mention on Radio 4 today - not bad either!

Was a very positive item or two.

One at start of show dealing with legislation etc, and a tasting by hardened smoker later.

Program was "you and yours" not sure if it can be downloaded or "listened again". Not my strong suit that area of tech.

Caught the 1st bit at 12pm, then forgot to turn it on again when I got home.

The trouble with the 1st bit, (the way it was explained) was that if I was a member of the public, it would seem quite a reasonable thing to me.

Listening to VTTV atm, but I will get to it later.

I think you are right, and that highlights a way forward; it's not really just one issue, I would not see it as unreasonable that there were some regulation over making sure consumables were safe enough and of good quality. That's desirable obviously, but the problem is that this is not the whole story and there is a separation needed to almost say that e-cigs were the original item but vaping is a new thing which has grown out of it.

Also that even if there were legislation to some detriment to nic bearing e-juice then that should not be grounds for it ALL to go away. As a diabetic I can hit cravings for sweet things which I absolutely can and must not consume! I may get off nic eventually, but I'm certainly not going to be stopping vaping sweet things I may crave but otherwise would not be able to have a taste of should I want to!

If we split out the various positive aspects and tackle all of those then we will be arguing fact, not playing politics and all that other grimy & sordid stuff where we could lose our point.

I challenge this bloke to swap Marlboro reds for E-Lites. Not going to happen. Not without virtually giving up nicotine.

Liberro or Gamucci produced 3 or 4x as much nicotine as E-Lites. Now, there's a shocker.....

Who is this guy...(John Waite). I NEED to write to him.

They gave a full name check at the end of the show on air and they normally list them on the schedule for each show. Might well be worth a dig about on the BBC radio 4 web site.

It was nothing like perfect I agree, but it was not that negative either, so not a bad outcome really.

I have just listened to the "you and yours" section on e-cigs where I believe you were commenting on 4 e-cigarettes.
I felt an immediate urge to write to you.
I quit smoking tobacco using e-cigs over a year ago and the early days were both difficult and frustrating. Concerned about both the safety & efficacy of two brands of I had tried, I ended up joining some internet forums to get help. I have quit now, but, NOT using the products you mention in the BBC broadcast. The BBC has fallen into the exact same trap as new users in looking simply at products available in supermarkets. I would also say that by expressing a preference for one of these brands the BBC has inadvertently advertised these products.
There are reasons for these products being ineffective, unsatisfying and absurdly costly. If you or the BBC wishes to know the full story, I would like the chance to send a full email which might help "inform" the entire e-cig debate.
