Electronic cigarettes help with smoking cessation at double the rate of traditional products report researchers, who also find public interest in the devices is high. Findings from Boston University School of Public Health found consumers who purchased e-cigarettes remained smoke free six months after purchasing - a success rate of 31 percent compared to 12 to 18 percent for nicotine gum and patches. In a second new study, researchers at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health found interest in electronic cigarettes is also high among consumers. The authors add that banning electronic cigarettes is likely to harm public health, given the success for smoking cessation found in the study. Siegel believes removing e-cigarettes from the market due to lack of proof that they work would be a mistake. Dr Siegel has been a strong proponent of e-cigs. Because of that, he has been derided by his colleagues and treated as a rogue. He is fair, honest and correct and has been largely ignored by the antis.

They should do the studies again - I reckon they'd have an even higher success rate nowadays. Thanks Dee scylla

Nice one Dee - thanks for posting this up.
The sheer joy and elation that people exhibit when they have gone 1,2,3,4, or however many days or weeks analog free is such a buzz to me. I love going on the ECF newbie forum just to encourage them. I've have tried so so hard to quit in the past and it's been battle after battle that ends with me smoking again and apologising to everyone i'd upset while trying to quit. Well now theres e cigs and i wanna tell the world...hey, this works. I love to read the posts/stories of people trying to find out about e cigs for their Mom or Dad who is getting ill from smoking. It's just a little electronic device with some liquid in it. But boy it's doing so much good. Without feeling like you're missing anything.
Thanks again

I think I know why the antis are so anti e-cigs. It's because they're so enjoyable If they tasted like hell and gave you the trots like nic gum does they'd probably not be agin 'em. Bit like letting the MS suffers have MJ. ONLY if it's in a tablet so that the effect can only be therapeutic. Mustn't be able to enjoy it. Oh no!

They are control freaks, Clut. They want to run our lives according to their rules.

Well here in the UK supermarket giant Tesco is doing us small E-Cig business a great favour by selling a disposable cigarette for £6.95 this will raise public awareness in to electronic cigarettes and also thrifty shoppers will look online for a better deal once they are aware of the products. for example my disposable ones are £3.60 a lot less than tesco and i am sure many other veddors are prob priced in the same range

very nice find dee. thanks for posting. its always good to read possitive findings that reflect similar evaluation to our own experiences with ecigs.
probarbly not the best place or thread to advertise those disposables, but i do agree that any encouragement to try out the alternative is probarbly a good thing. for example you can buy similar and identical products to those mentioned and obtain an insight into the thoughts of those buying them from an internet site named after a particular rain forest. they offer personal experiences from consumers and i believe there are considerable savings that can be taken from there too.
