I bought a load of these to go with my lovely new Evod clones. I was advised to soak them before use, which I did - all of them in a bath of bicarb and water overnight, then plentiful drying in this boiling hot sunshine last week. Unfortunately, 2 out of 3 taste disGUSting! I was using one with my favourite juice last night and got a lungful of the most foul burnt taste. The odd one is OK, and I haven't been through all 20 of them yet, but it's put me right off using them! I've noticed some have 2 rubber rings and some don't. I've only used the ones with 2 so far, no idea what if any difference that makes. So, is it me? Are they duds? Would rewicking help? Or should I bung them straight in the bin and chalk it up to the experience of buying non-brand stuff? I've never rewicked anything, btw, but maybe this is the ideal opportunity to have a go? I got some of their pre-coiled wicks whilst I was at it, but am now wondering whether they'd have the same nasty taste problem too!

I've re wicked my first three Evods using Vaporbreak pre coiled wicks with no trouble and I didn't bother washing the wicks first, I can't speak for the Fasttech wicks though. Dave

I have only had one clone evod and it came I was not too impressed with it
The rubber on the top of the post is there to seal the air tube from the tank without it juice will leak into the airtube plus you can't draw air through the coil, so one or two no problem as long as it seals.
The burn taste is down to juice not getting to the coil you could try just removing some of the feeder wick on one, you can take the top of or just use a pair of tweezers and pull one out

I received some Fasttech evods yesterday. I hadn't used an evod before, but comparing one of the evod heads to an original protank head, there was an extra o-ring under the silica wick on the evod which does not belong. I removed the o-ring before use and haven't had any dry hits. Just to clarify, this is not the o-ring at the bottom of the head to seal the connection between the base and head, this was an extra o-ring sitting directly under the silica edit, found an image on google. The extra o-ring was like this:

One of the FT Evods i received is probably the 2nd best Evod i've had straight out of the 'box' (the best one coming from Charlies Vape Shop) - the other one - Meh Can't say tis specifically any Vendor or producer for that matter - as i've had others from many vendors - all genuine and they have been good overall they've shown some variability in Vaping

I bought some UK replacement heads and they were all vile-tasting-burny-metallic yukky. I can't re-do them, so long term, they are all destined for the bin or another vaper. I'm 99% sure there is something about the design of the coil/wick inside the metal casing that makes it unpredictable. I don't know if it's touching wires or something to do with plonking a metal centre pole directly above the coil. Anything touching in the wrong place will mess it up big time. The "original" uk ones I got were clearly not well coiled, they were more messy than the ones I do myself, they didn't have the 3+3 arrangement and barely vaped. I suspect they were simply duff.

Hmm, I'll have a go with one without that second ring then, pyr0 and see if that helps - thanks! If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to start messing with the wick and, deep breath, have a go at rewicking!

Just checked the heads I got from FT and none of mine have that second ring, they've been fine after a bicarb bath as well Jen. Fingers crossed removing it works for you.

Looking at that pic, that extra o ring serves no purpose whatsoever other than to block the flow of juice to the coil. Must be for a no vape vaporiser.
