I know....
I have a friend that has a sand blasting machine that I want to play with but I know little about them and he broke it. He likes to use the sledgehammer approach to eggs. Can anyone give me a 101 or dummies guide to using them? Please help me
Love, The Ant

ant... I've always assumed we could answer the 'meaning to life' here on this forum, but come on, 'sandblasting'! I can only suggest 'googling' it... and 'good luck'

I built a sand blasting unit to clean old engine parts.
Depending on what you want to blast you will need an appropriate compressor and appropriate grit. Grit can come in many forms from very hard granite type grit down to nut shells and even dry ice for precision blasting.
I used sharp sand and my "cabinet" was a cut down oil drum with a Perspex window.
You should search u-tube for diy sandblasting.
