Some gifted wordsmith really has got a load of material to go on . Clive has answered the regulation side , there were maybe 8-10 glaring errors made by Ms McAvan that need replies.

The lady has quite obviously cast the runes and has the answer! Sadly her "information" used to make a reasoned decision on the subject are without foundation, assumption and innuendo have always lead to poor policy making.

Fascinating. There are some real positives in this, but, I get the feeling that her view is more or less the same one adopted by most people now involved in the political process. They want safe products for us and don't believe there is strong enough power without going the medicines route. Clearly, they all believe that approvals will be guaranteed and that the companies can afford it, but yet again, we are back to the problem of "only the richest" stealing a march on everybody else. It's sad to hear her suggest most liquid is coming from China and she is not aware of UK liquid. If I look in my box, 90% of my liquid is UK sourced and I would say that 99% of that will disappear under the "medicine" scheme. We will be left with big pharma liquid and big tobacco look-a-likes and exactly the stuff we fear. She also thinks there a massive profits ahead....well, maybe for the £4 carto companies, but not for the £5 10ml UK liquid makers.....they'll be out of business because they won't be able to "buy" their way into the market. She was OK though. Not what I expected.

Thanks for your good work.
As a vaper I don't want the pharmaceutical companies having anything to do with my ecigs. It is important that my vaping products are produced by people I trust. I don't trust bigP and here is why.
They have a track record of producing quack remedies and falsifying the data to show them as effective medicines. They have a track record of not publishing (sometimes fatal) side effects of their products. I fully expect their strategy for ecigs will include patenting additives and making false claims about them.
An example of a quack product, related to smoking cessation, is the nicotine patch. Here they have made false claims when the reality is that their effectiveness is on a par with placebos. Their mark up from the cost of the drug (nicotine) to the finished product (nicotine patch) has been astronomical.
They have not been fined over their false claims and misrepresentation of the data nor made to pay back the money money they charged for their bogus NRT. So clearly they will not have learned that this is not unacceptable. Instead they know it is profitable and will continue to do the same again.
Before any company is licensed to produce eliquid they should be required to produce, for the licensing authority, any literature sent by them, in the past, to doctors, hospitals, health authorities and pharmacists regarding smoking cessation products. Where they have made false claims about ecigarettes they should not be granted a license to produce eliquid. Where their literature has included false claims about ecigarettes which has led doctors, pharacists or health workers to warn patients against ecigarettes, they should be charged with corporate manslaughter.
I'm just one vaper but I don't want the pharmaceutical industry having anything to do with my ecigarettes because I don't trust them.
